My daughter is in certain classes that are advanced. She’s in 6th grade. She has straight A’s because she gets her work done. When test time approaches, she will get an F. The latest is computational thinking where she had to program to get a guy out of a maze. She knew her numbers were off. Her classmate ended up taking her work home and figuring it out at home. I don’t believe work was supposed to be taken home to do. This same classmate already wrote her 4 paragraph essay for her English exam. The teacher wouldn’t accept it as it had to be done at home.
Even with the F, my kid still has an A. I think it’s more important to think on your feet and fail than get the grade. Though I don’t think my kid was thinking she would get an F on it.
As teachers - do you want your students to get it right with help or do it on their own with the possibly of failing?
