I [16F] have gathered about 16 or 17 absences up until now due to the fact that school is almost over, meaning teachers aren't going to teach anything big or new anymore (we have 8 days left of school) so I just stay home, do my assignments (everything is digital so I'm not missing any work) + i already finished all of my finals in my classes except for the last one next week. but I've begun to worry about my truancy, it's been about 17 absences but I haven't received anything from the school. like, at all. no emails, no letters home, no meetings, no punishment, no warnings, like, absolutely nothing. and I feel like it's too late in the school year to ask about truancy to my counselor, but theoretically, if I missed the last day or 2 of school, would they be able to send me to court, summer school, or make me repeat the year? again, absolutely no information or warnings from the school at all so im not sure what measures they'll take against chronically absent students, but would they still punish kids for missing the last few days of school? I'm just going to assume I'm at the border of getting a repercussion by like 1 or 2 more absences,, but would they really do something for missing the last day of school for example? for reference I live in Northern VA and have just average grades. but yea, would they really get mad over missing the last day of school at this point?
