Leaving education, and I wrote this to find peace in all of it: 1000 Years

1000 years

1000 years of teaching but in reality it was only 10. She did her job and lay to rest so my new life could begin.

1000 years of teaching made her a majestic beast. But in reality the years went by and her spirit did decrease.

1000 years of teaching and it seemed like there would be more. But in reality all the time was weighing at her core.

1000 years of teaching made her seem scary and unkind. But in reality she was everything consistent when her students left her behind.

1000 years of teaching she persisted despite the evil at her feet. In reality she can let go and know it’s not in any way a defeat.

1000 years of teaching may be how it felt- but in reality I survived this discouraging hand I was dealt. Because in 1000 years there has always been a teacher to see you through- and I hope in all my heart you know I tried to be good to all of you. To make you laugh, help you create, and learn to fight your fears; and though I’m done, that you all know I will love you for 1000 years.
