Hello! I am an educator in South Carolina and I don’t know what to do anymore. In my school teachers don’t get lunch breaks they must eat lunch with their class and were recently told that they have to be mobile during the classes lunch and monitor, meaning we cannot eat. Teachers are required to go to PLC, and meetings every week which takes most planning periods away completely. We only have maybe two or one planning period a week because of this. Parents actively berate employees, students actively berate employees, and no support is offered from district. We have students threatening each others lives and the adults are powerless to do anything about it. We write them up and miraculously no punishment or consequence is administered, accept maybe 1-3 days of ISS, and the student shows back up in class exhibiting the exact same behavior. Accept this time the teacher gets spoken down to because the student is behind in school work now. We don’t even have working water fountains. I feel like my coworkers and myself are no longer being treated like people, we are being stripped of basic human rights. In our district if anyone puts in a complaint to HR our names are attached to it and then we get pushed out of the district all together for rocking the boat. Most teachers literally leave in tears and I don’t know what to do or who to talk to get our district investigated by higher authorities.
