Hello everyone! I’m about to start my sophomore year at a community college in Missouri, and I’m planning to transfer next year into a nursing program. I’ve been looking into a few schools so far UMKC, Missouri State, and the University of Arkansas but I’m still pretty open to options.
What I’m hoping to find is a school that has a good balance: a good nursing program but also an active social/party scene. For reference, my GPA is currently a 3.2, but I still have 6–7 prerequisites left to take (depending on the school), so I’m aiming to raise it. This fall I’ll be taking my EMT classes, and I’m planning to apply for EMT positions in the winter. I’m hoping that kind of experience will look good on my applications.
The part that stresses me out is that I really don’t want to get declined and have to wait an extra year to apply. Since I may need an extra semester to finish my prereqs, I’m especially interested in programs that offer two admission cycles per year (fall and spring) so I’d have more flexibility. If anyone has recommendations for universities with nursing programs that might be a good fit, I’d love to hear them!
