Is it possible to find the name of my guiduince counselor from middle school? Her name is evading me

She was my only friend when I was in middle school. I'd skip lunch and hang out and do my homework in her office. She helped me through tough times, especially when I was going through some difficulties at home. Unfortunately, after going to High school I lost contact. My mother was also not to fond of her. I'd like to let her know I graduated (the last time she'd seen me was the day before I attempted suicide) and I always wanted to let her know that I made it. I don't live in the same town anymore, so physically going there is not an option. Should I email the current staff? I just want to know if it would be worth the trouble.
