Learning Social Sciences Post College Graduation

I am curious how one can continue the expansion of one's knowledge, particularly in the social sciences where the classical readings are very dense and require more than a simple reading of the works, after one graduates from college, at which point much of the structure of education is lost.

Would people here recommend finding book clubs? I think of myself as a rather nerdy individual, and doubt I could find someone to discuss Durkheim's works on social solidarity in depth with. I like to think that the internet has a vast array of resources, but at the same time it is highly disorganized and not necessarily vetted well.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
