The Student Loan Marketing Association, also known as Sallie Mae and SLM Corp, started as a AAA Federal education agency in 1973 and evolved into a ‘junk’ rated predatory lender until late last week when Moody’s removed their rating.

On Aug 28, 2020 Moody’s withdrew the junk rating for “Lack of sufficient information”. It is now unrated, not even junk.

There is almost no news, public notification or record of this action to the general public.
