VTHS Administration cutting ITS program forcing students to move into other programs

Just weeks into the new year all the parents were informed that the IT program was being cancelled and the children will be forced to move to other programs the children have no interest in. The current teacher has been in the program for 20 years and had no idea the program was being cut. He did have issues going back to school in the hybrid program but has communicated with administration that he can go back in. The school is all virtual now and plans to go hybrid on 10/5. The administration claims they must cut the program due to in person staffing problems. They say the program isn’t big enough to hire a sub for in person. 13 children currently enrolled in the program. The VTHS is about 300 students with a large percentage in the medical field. The families are shocked that the school is forcing all the students to go into different programs they have no interest in. Some programs the offered us was auto mechanics, graphic design, law and public safety, cosmetology. No my computer geek kid does not want to become a police officer or a hair stylist, thank you very much. Meanwhile the administration is lying saying they have not been in contact with the teacher even though they were emailing him last Friday. What can parents do? We are emailing County Freeholders, Board of Ed. Writing emails to the superintendent to not cancel the program and to work with the teacher. They are ignoring us. I think they just want this teacher out for some unknown reason and are using the pandemic as an excuse. The administration’s latest spin is they are closing the program for the year to revamp it and start new next year. So they are throwing away a year of every student’s education in order to find a way to fire this teacher? There are second and third year students that love the program that are now being forced to take a year off. Who knows if this promise to restart this program next year is even true. I am a parent and I’m asking the hive mind here for any advice. Thinking of going to the press. Ironic how the program to be cut is IT which is the industry that is keeping our society together in this pandemic.
