Looking for research papers about the change in the U.S. education system?

If anyone happens to find links to research articles about the change in the U.S. education system, please share. I am looking specifically for something that shows that the structure of the U.S. education system hasn't changed. For example, there are still X number of students in a class, in the same chairs, learning the same cookie cutter lessons.
