How do I start reading papers? I’n not a scientist but I want to know more.

Hi

It annoys me that most of my "knowledge" comes from youtube videos. They often cite sources, but I feel bad when I digest knowledge already chewed up and spit out by some middleman. I am ashamed to admit that I know something "from a youtube video".

I am interested in various topics, but when I tried to read articles found on the Internet, they turned out to be too complicated for me to understand or pay attention to.

How can I find papers on topics that interest me that won't be so difficult to read?
