Hi everyone,
I want to bring attention to something concerning I’ve noticed across two major educational platforms: Course Hero and CliffsNotes. These sites are widely used by students and educators for academic support, but when reviewing their public question pages and sitemaps, I repeatedly found commercial posts offering paid services like Google reviews, Trustpilot reviews, social media followers, private account access, and other clearly promotional services that have nothing to do with learning.
Examples of problematic threads (all visible publicly):
• cliffsnotes.com/sitemap/cliffs-questions/business-other/2026-02
• cliffsnotes.com/sitemap/cliffs-questions/business-other/2026-01
These don’t look like genuine academic questions. They promote commercial services and, to me, function more like spam. I also tried reporting some of them, and my experience was that only a few got removed, while similar spam keeps appearing month after month.
Has anyone else seen this pattern? Are there better ways to report or flag such content so these educational sites can clean up their moderation? Happy to provide screenshots or specific examples.
Curious what others think, especially educators and students who use these platforms regularly.
