I have a 2nd and 4th grader in GA, USA. The school started this new curriculum the state mandated. They use area models (boxes) and other new concepts. I was taught from Saxon math textbooks. What is the purpose of this and will they ever learn the traditional way? I was told by the teachers that they would not be learning traditional math at all this year. It’s driving me nuts.
