These are the best random numbers for kids to practice.0 to 50 Random Numbers Counting
College Algebra requires a final exam you must pass to complete the degree requirement whereas Behavioral Statistics can be passed, satisfy the degree, with or without the final so which would you go for and why?
Please , if you know where I can find nice games for university students about environmental issues ? I found for kids mostly in internet.
People are like water, they can only flow independently. Many people think, especially parents that they can shape children; just how you can shape mud into a vase. You can only control a path the water flows, and sometimes there will be paths you won't see.
Water can not be control, you can trap it but once that glass cracks and the pressure builds, it will burst and flow uncontrollably until it settles on a stable plain.
Water is freedom. We can't predict what water will do. Water is why America became the most advanced civilization in the shortest time in human history. Let's not allow institutions and the powerful few, trap water. Because one day the pressure will be too much for the glass to hold.
Liberty above all. Encourage, do not push.
Hi, I work as a part-time middle school TA, but I used to be a full time teacher (currently in grad school).
One of my main assignments is to create classroom materials including assessments based on what the teachers give me. I used to work very collaboratively with my assigned teachers to create these materials, largely because I have a master's degree in one of the subjects taught, and I have several years of full time teaching experience, mostly at the middle school level.
I have no idea what happened exactly, but think I overstepped in my zeal to offer my expertise and perhaps someone said something to them I'm not aware of sometime in January, but they asked me to stop bringing in my own experience, and to just create the unit reviews, study guides, online quiz games, and google forms assessments which are the graded assignments for the students based solely on questions they give me.
They know what's being covered in the class best, so I understand an aspect of this, but for the last several units they have been asking me to create these materials by copying them from printouts of "Quizzizz" quizzes. Many of the questions are factually incorrect and/or misleading, and include spelling and grammar errors that make it appear that they were possibly not even in English originally.
Aside from the need to correct these questions for content on the students' assessments, the resulting assessments are very problematic because they contain only one sentence questions "ID" style multiple choice questions, while the standardized test the students will need to take at the end of the year (which will count for a significant portion of their grade) is over 50% read and respond to longer passages, and half of those are asking students to respond to primary sources, according to the latest released version of this course's final exam from a previous year.
I understand we have some very low performing students, but they are separated into "low" and "high" performing classes, and when I was more involved in the process in the fall, I worked to create different assessments for the two groups, both of which we discussed previously would be designed to gradually introduce students to more complicated kinds of questions.
I met with the teachers this week to ask if we could resume collaborating in a way that was more similar to what we were doing in the fall, because I had concerns about the assessment creation process drawing exclusively from the printed out "quizzizz" quizzes.
I also suggested that they pull assessment materials from the students' textbooks instead of "quizzizz" printouts, if they were uncomfortable collaborating with me to create questions.
The teachers told me that there may not even be a standardized test because it may have been cancelled, and they were not sure. I was also told that I needed to just create the material from the "quizzizz" assessments, and if I see a mistake or have a concern, do not bring it to their attention, but if someone else says something about it, explain that the teachers are responsible, so it is not "my fault."
I called our county's office of accountability and testing (we are a full public school, not private or charter), and they confirmed that the students will be required to take the final exam standardized test.
I feel deeply uncomfortable with this situation. I can't "pass the buck" so to speak and create assessments for students with information that I know is factually incorrect, and I am very worried for our students academic future knowing how unprepared they will be for the final, and probably for their classes next year (if they are not retained).
I know that the assessments are not the only thing the students are getting, but I also make copies of all the material and can see that it is not "filling in the gaps" missing in terms of what would need to be there to approach the standard course of study and adequate prep for the final.
I have not approached anyone with these specific concerns besides the teachers in question, but I really don't know what to do.
I have no info what to look for but I have a family in Korea who wants to send their kid (13 y/o) to NY to learn for 1 year. Are there any free programs or something I can read/show them?
TIA
Recently, I was in the process of appealing my test to my teacher. All I did was try to defend and justify my answer. Even if my answer made sense, the teacher denied it and called it nonsense. When I tried to respond back in justification of my answer, the teacher ripped my test paper in front of me saying that he is tired of me and my nonsense. He went back to the workroom and left me with crumpled pieces of my test.
Can I in any way, report this unprofessionalism and disrespect? Is this instance valid ground for suspension or to revoke his teaching license entirely?

I just got expelled from my private high school for educational mischief and I’m wonedering what to do next. Should I do online school or enroll in a public school nearby?
Hey, I need help choosing my courses for next year, first of all, I'll mention my courses for the past 2 years, for grade 9 I took, Algebra 1, ELA, Biology, Guidance(I think it falls under social sciences), Social studies, Moral Education(no credits), Business, Physical Education, Arabic ( as it is mandatory), Journalism, art 1 and Islamic studies(mandatory), now in grade 10 I'm taking ELA, Geometry/Trigonometry, Chemistry, World History, Marketing(business), Public Speaking, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Art2. I also have done Algebra 2 as self-study and was assessed on it (got 100/100) so I'm taking precalculus next year. I'll be attaching my course options, plus what I'm thinking of taking. Excuse my handwriting ofc. course selection thingy
Hi, I'm currently in my third year and doing my psychology dissertation. Looking for participants between 18 and 26 years old and it should take no longer than 15 minutes. I'd be super grateful if you could take some time to fill it out. Thankyou!
Hi everyone,
I'm following a course to get a teaching license for middle school, but I feel wholefully inadequate for the job as I feel a lot of anxiety when dealing with crowds. As such, I've had a hard time trying to teach 30 or so teens.
Is there any advice, related to my problem listed above or otherwise, you guys could give me? Like I said, I'm having a tough time, but I want to do a good job, so I'm open to suggestions.
Anyway, thanks in advance
Hey everyone, I’m currently trying to find out how one could make the lives of busy students just like you a lot easier ;)
Which is why I have two very simple questions:
1. As a student, what are the 2 biggest issues you are dealing with?
Thanks so much in advance - looking forward to reading your answers!
So what are the most essential studies that have been completed which point to the need for progressive educational reform?
My senior son is under heavy pressure by his school to go to a certain college. Can a high school keeps putting pressure like this ? Can he stay at home for a while so he can have time to think on his own?
I'm attempting to find research that looks at the relationship between test proximity and performance. Intuition says students will perform better with exams more spread out, but can anybody point me toward research? Or help out with some search terms I might use to look for this stuff? I'm not familiar enough with education jargon to know where to begin. Thanks!
Hey! I am here to ask advice for dropping out of school. Obviously I have my reasons, so I am gonna explain those first. This may be a long post, so if you don't want to read my whole rant, feel free to scroll down to the end.
It started last summer, when we suddenly had to move out of our old apartment. That wouldn't have been a huge issue, if the owners didn't tell us literally 1 month before school started. Luckily, we did find a new, awesome apartment just in time, and even though moving was really stressful especially considering our circumstances, we were finally at our house a week before school started (our clothes and stuff still had to be stored on the floor, as we couldn't move all our furnitures yet). This was not only a new town for me to live at, but I also started the year at a new school. I didn't even have time to get used to our new home before school started. Needles to say, the whole family was stressed out.
As time passed by, I started to skip school more often and often due to me being sick all the time. I had several doctor appointments planned out, and found out that I had migraine, something wrong with my stomach (which the doctors still couldn't exactly figure out, btw), got signed up for a stress management program, and the doctors found a possible tumor in my brain (still not sure, we are gonna find it out in a few months), problems with my period and multiple other issues. They just randomly hit me after years of being (mostly) healthy, and it just felt overwhelmed. Due to missing most of the things my classmates learned, I couldn't catch up, and came back to school to fail several tests and exams due to me not even knowing about what my classmates learnt.
Now, I did ask my classmates about at least borrowing me their books so I can catch up, but all of them were too busy to help me out in any shape or form. Obviously teachers want students to interact in such situations, so I had nobody to help me out. My parents have never even learned all the stuff that is taught at this school, and it's hard to learn stuff when it's based on things everyone learned when you are missing. Obviously this is a hard school, and most students don't get the most positive grades, but I am way worse than any of the people I talk to. To add up to this ; my class consists of 4 females, and more than 20 males, me being one of the females. This wouldn't be such a huge issue, if half of these guys respected women, however they think that women deserve no rights. They started mocking me recently, and make me very uncomfortable. I am already anxious and nervous talking in front of people, but when I am in this class I just start shaking as if there'd be an earthquake, which is probably one of the reasons they started picking on me.
A few weeks ago, I started having problems with my skin, and have to constantly scratch it. Even if I don't, I wake up to my pillow filled in blood due to my arm bleeding. Sadly we couldn't get a proper doctor appointment yet, and probably won't get one for months. We are suspecting this may also be due to the stress, as nobody else in my family or class has it. I am at the point where there is no day I am not exhausted, and can't even concentrate on stuff. I also have sleep issues since school started, and I literally can't make myself fall asleep before 1 am, no matter what kind of method I try to use. I am just done with all of this shit and finally want some peace.
I wrote an email to two of my teachers, but obviously, they can't do much about this situation. I want to drop out, however, my parents are very strict and due to my other sisters being worse than I am, they always expect me to be perfect, so at least I am not so much of a failure in the family. I don't care if I dissapoint them anymore. This would be helpful to my health, both mental and physical, and I feel like it's time I make my own decisions. I already have several plans on what to do if I dropped out. However, as I said my parents are very strict and sometimes abusive, and it literally scares me to even tell them I want to stop doing the only thing they are slightly proud of me for, I don't want them to get aggressive and just make me continue school, but with them making it even worse additionally. I am very anxious and nervous about it, and whenever I plan to I just can't open my mouth to tell them. I am unable to form sentences about this while looking into their eyes, and I don't think I am ready for them starting to yell at me.
Any tips or advice to this topic? I just want some peace for once.
I had this student in an elective and she laughed a lot at me, with me, what ever, it was a decent relationship. The issue though would be that we would be laughing, she would saying something rude and I would call her out and she would immediately shut down. It seems that any time I was trying to be serious with her, she would act as if I was the worst person in the world. The other thing to mention, is that this is far from the firs student I have had this issue with, or teacher! I have had several students who can't help but laugh constantly in my presence (I'm a goofy guy) but it usually has taken a simple conversation and it was over. I see this as different because of how mad she has gotten every time I have tried to talk to her and with how rude her laughter sounds as I see her in the hallway. I really don't mind someone laughing at me, but the way she does has me thinking, "I know I am funny, stop trying to be mean". Any advice would be great! Thank you!
Hello. I thought this is the best place to ask, if it's not i would like mods to close their eyes, because it's something i must know and any answer is helpful.I would like to study in Germany because my parents are there, and after exams i'm heading there. I was lost and had no idea about my future until i started reading for mental problems, psyhosis and everything at all. This is the first thing i get motivated to study, until i found out that psychiatrist is something i'm actually intersted and willing to devote 11-12 years to study six years for medicine degree and five for psyhology. The truth is i was always avarage or maybe even below avarage, especially at medicine related subjects. I'm going to finish high shool in 2 months and leave it with degree that could help me find job as graphic designer, website creator or keep studying to enlarge my knowledge there. I never paid attention to subjects like biology and chemistry, because i thought i will keep studying for something related to what i did here. But i dont feel like i'm into it, that this is my thing. My overall mark for the year would be between three to four max at it's best (the scale is two (poor) to six (excellent) ). I overall was the clown of the class, would make fun and still make it through each year, not caring at all. Can it turn out as a problem now? I'm willing to study biology and chemistry before i apply for university and take somekind of exam to prove that i'm not an idiot and don't want to be "avarage" person for my whole life? Is there a way i can do it or just accept that i failed and will never be able to get accepted? I would grab and try my best if there is even slightttt chance of getting accepted. Going 1 or 2 years to study what i was supposed to know until now and paying for it ain't a problem. My parents on the other side are desparate for me and what to study at all the price. Spoke to them that there might be low chance to do exams when apply and it might come out costly, but if it's going to turn around the things in my life it's all worth it.
I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this, but my question is about education and this is r/education.
I live in Italy, and here when you exit middle school you have to choose between different types of courses in different schools, after 5 years you take the exam and graduate.
I came out of middle school with A+ grades, and as such went to the hardest possible high school in the area, where I'm moving on with a ~75% average, in my exam I will probably not get more than 85%.
If I wanted to join an italian university it wouldn't be a problem, even the most prestigious ones don't care for high school marks (this should say something) but foreign universities do, and for EU students usually require 90+% at high school graduation.
Am I stuck here? Should I apply anyway to foreign universities even though I don't reach the minimum requirements? I can't afford the prestigious universities here but there are many programs that would cover costs abroad.
Hi all, I'm a student but I'm really interested in this topic. Would love to hear about your policies or just general trends of phone usage you've noticed in your classes.
I'm also doing a research project about teen phone use for an entrepreneurship class I'm taking. We had to identify a problem in the classroom setting and then create a prototype/concept and get initial feedback. If any of you are teachers and passionate about the topic, it'd be super helpful if you could fill out the survey I've made for the project. It's a super early concept, but any positive or negative feedback would be greatly appreciated! Cheers
I teach elementary school. We like to play games as a class but want to bring new fun. Any suggestions?
We play classics like heads up seven up, 4 corners, silent ball. We volley soccer ball sized bouncy balls. We go noodle and use other internet sites.
What engaging, fun are we missing out on?
Concentration increases grasping power and retaining what one learns. So it is important to have focus.

A few years back I was accused of helping my 1st graders cheat on a standardized test. I did not, the accusations were absurdly weak, not to mention there was absolutely no motive to do so.
I was accused by another teacher in the union who had an unrelated beef with me and she took her complaint directly to the district administration, bypassing the chain of command. I called my union rep who set me up with our regional legal representative. The claim was I was giving specific answers to 1st graders on a math test. Well, my students are ELL and I was helping them understand the questions which were written in English. Not give them answers. No where in the testing manual (we were untrained, of course) did it say you could not assist with that. Plus my two paras were in the room the whole time. The were never questioned during the administration's investigation.
Long story short, the representative didn't press anything, didn't defend me well nor argue the process, and it resulted in a month of missed pay. I was not terminated but "the punishment" did not fit "the crime".
I consulted a private employment attorney after the fact and she said something that blew my mind. Here it is:
The union attorney has to represent both you and the complainant. Why would he fall on his sword for "the accused" which would make the complainant equally as upset. He decided to not make waves and look out for your best interests because that would have directly gone against another union member. He didn't want to pick sides so he essentially stayed out of it.
If I had to do it again I would have hired the private attorney from day one, and when I asked the union rep why he didn't press the case he gave me a canned answer about "it's best to let these things play out naturally". So the following year I quit the union. For a decade I paid dues to a group that gave me no protection nor benefit of the doubt.
Be very careful who you trust. And remember the union lawyer is their for whoever pays most of their bills, not for you.
Hi. I'm currently a sophmore at a regular public high school at the moment. I am not very familiar with this subreddit so forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this. I'm not doing so hot right now. I didn't do so hot first semester either. I've been working my ass off to try and change that. I've studied, I've gotten countless help from teachers.. only for my hard work to not change a thing. I want to get out of this. I want a diploma. I want to leave my school and find alternative schooling for myself. I don't know if charter schools are the answer but I am done with my current school. Can anyone give me any advice for alternative schooling? Is charter schools the answer for people like me?
A little background first. I am a high school junior that attends an afternoon CTE class that gives me both high school and college credit. Ever since the fire, I have to go to school every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at a different school within the same system until one week past when school is supposed to let out (this includes spring break). Our days are also extended by an extra hour.
That wouldn’t sound too bad considering we only have to go to school three days a week. The problem is though, that my CTE class is every weekday. This means I only have a one day weekend on Sunday with no spring break whatsoever (even though my family has already payed for plane tickets). I don’t even have it as bad as some other kids. Some have to go to Governors School which lasts even longer than CTE classes.
My concern is that we are being overworked. Is there a legal limit to the amount of school hours a student is allowed to have in the state of Virginia? If so, what steps could a high schooler such as myself take to stand up against this?
If all goes well, this year I will graduate with a BA (Hons) in Film Studies with Screenwriting, but I’ve decided over the last year that I’m more passionate about the practical side of filmmaking than the theoretical and written aspects.
So would I be accepted onto a Masters in Filmmaking if I don’t have the exact same degree?
Good for me, but not for thee.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez managed to get her goddaughter into a Bronx charter school, according to a Facebook Live video she recorded in 2017 — before she was a public figure.
“This area’s like a lot of where my family is from,” AOC says as she strolls along Hunts Point Avenue in the Bronx. “My goddaughter, I got her into a charter school like maybe a block or two down.”
It’s unclear exactly how Ocasio-Cortez managed to finagle the favor for her goddaughter, or which school she attended. There are at least five — including South Bronx Classical Charter School I and Bronx Charter School for the Arts — within walking distance of the Hunts Point subway station where the video cuts out.
Reps for AOC did not immediately respond to request for comment.
Embracing charters would be a big no-no for Ocasio-Cortez’s Democratic socialist base, which calls for the total abolition of charters, arguing that their existence hurts traditional public schools.
“Charter schools act as tools for privatizing education and weakening the power of unionized teachers,” the party says in its New York City platform, which called for ending “the creation of new charter schools, [banning] the expansion of existing charter schools, and transform[ing] existing charter schools into public schools.”
Though Ocasio-Cortez has frequently talked about how her own family fled the Bronx to avoid the borough’s failing public schools, she has also publicly stood in total lockstep with anti-charter advocates.
During a March 2019 town hall organized by Jackson Heights People for Public Schools, she had harsh words for New York City public schools — but also lauded public education as “one of the greatest gems of public good in the United States.” She warned that residents of the Bronx were now being “incentivized to enroll into a charter school.”
“The moment we start feeling that way is when we should start fighting to improve them,” Ocasio-Cortez said during the meeting, which was attended by a who’s who of anti-charter activists, including State Sen. Jessica Ramos, Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz and NYU professor Diane Ravitch.
During the same meeting, AOC conceded that her cousin’s children also attended charter schools, according to the socialist magazine Jacobin.
In another Facebook Live video from around the same time, Ocasio-Cortez posted footage of American Federation of Teachers boss Randi Weingarten rallying the troops against Education Secretary Betsy DeVos — a prominent charter advocate.
“I am not surprised by the hypocrisy,” said Ray Domanico, director of education policy at the Manhattan Institute. “Charter schools are incredibly popular with the communities and populations that a lot of these Democratic politicians claim to be representing … People in the Bronx can find a good school for their young ones now as the congresswoman apparently did for her goddaughter.”
Hello all. I was watching a video on youtube where random members of the public were asked questions. One young girl didn’t know the boiling point of water, and on another video there were lots of people who didn’t know what a homosapien was! I don’t know if it was staged though. Anyway, it got me wondering...is there any point of educating people when they don’t remember it anyway. I don’t remember everything but I like to think I know the basics. I am always educating myself and enjoy learning. I know a lad who was bragging he got top grades on his exams so my brother quizzed him and he didn’t have a clue on most of them, and the ones he did answer wasn’t completely right. I think when most people leave education the majority of it is forgotten. Do you think there is much point in getting top grades? I can understand if you needed them for certain jobs such as medical and teaching as proof you can do the job.
Hi, I am the student that does not always pay attention i class and never does homework, i get grades just over minimum of passing unless I really like the subject. I know that if I spent atleast an hour a day per subject at home I would get over the class average almist instantly. But I tend to procrastinate a lot and get a grasp of time just before bed time and end up not studying at all after often just sitting around at home. I know the whole University deal and that I must study but it always seem that I can do it next day. How do I force myself to study? Thanks! Sorry for grammar or other mistakes, English isn't my first language
Hi all. I'm looking for beta testers for a VLE I'm working on. If you're a teacher of any subject, have time and are interested, please let me know. You can check out www.wurkbuk.com for more details on it.

I have a pretty good handle, I think, on how charter and private schools get started. But how do new public schools begin?
Under what circumstances does someone decide, "We need to build a new public school"?
In whose eye does the twinkle originate-- the superintendent? The school board? Parents? Teachers?
Then how are the funds appropriated? Who takes part in designing the school? How is a site chosen?
And finally, how does the plan become a reality?
As today’s students are digital natives, using technology in the classroom is a great way to engage them & ensure full participation. This article tells how technology and education go hand in hand.

It’s one thing to not be able to afford a college education. It’s an entirely different issue altogether when you don’t even have a college around you.
A recent report from Jain Family Institute (JFI) reveals that access to college isn’t just about the cost of college. Physical access to public higher education institutions across America has also been highly unequal.
Specifically, as detailed by JFI’s interactive map, regions in America’s West have little-to-no access to an institution of higher education, compared to the East Coast.
“One of the major takeaways when you're looking at the map is the staggering amount of populated areas that are considered highly concentrated,” Laura Beamer, higher education finance project lead at JFI and one of the two authors of the study, told Yahoo Finance. “We figured out that roughly 2.4 million prospective students have access to most one public option nearby … Though financial access is extremely important, geographic access is also a very important piece of this dialogue and should be talked about more.”
The Rocky Mountain region “is the worst off,” the report added, “followed closely by the Plains region.”
The JFI report — which drew on various points of data from the 2016-17 Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, enrollment data from 2017, the 2016 5-year population, and median income estimates from the American Community Survey, driving durations to higher ed institutions in the area, zip codes, and more — created a “School Concentration Index” which measures the variation across the higher education market across different types of schools in the U.S. and U.S. territories.
Four states — Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming — were found to have higher education institution monopolies or close to it, meaning that there is only one institution or very few schools to choose from.
‘Prime hunting ground for for-profit institutions’
The authors found that a highly concentrated zip code (in red) means that there are few — or in some cases zero — higher education institutions in the area. A low concentration implies that there are a wide variety of options available for prospective students.
In the U.S., 38% of the population lives in highly concentrated zip codes, where they have access to very few or no higher education institutions, according to Beamer and her co-author Marshall Steinbaum, who is also an assistant professor of economics at the University of Utah. If a student from these areas wanted to attend a college or university, their commute would be at least 45 minutes.
The unequal access has wide-ranging implications for prospective students, most of them negative.
Parts of the U.S. where there’s “little to no access” to a higher ed institution “are prime hunting ground for for-profit institutions, just as they are known to draw disproportionately from populations historically excluded from traditional higher ed on the basis of race and class,” the authors argued.
The for-profit higher education sector saw tremendous growth since the financial crisis. In 2016, the New York Fed noted that enrollment at these schools had “skyrocketed” as the country emerged out of the Great Recession. For-profit colleges have also been known to saddle graduates with high levels of student debt, and in some cases, provide low-quality education with false promises of job placement.
The Obama administration’s crackdown on for-profit colleges led to several closures, and recent action by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) pushed the University of Phoenix to put a stop to deceptive advertising of lucrative job opportunities.
Despite government action, for-profits persist due to these gaps in availability.
‘A school could ... possibly practice price discrimination’
So why are schools so unequally distributed across the U.S. in the first place?
“It comes down to the structure that that states have put in place and just haven't been able to update over the last few decades,” Beamer said. “There is a rural versus urban dynamic as well … schools are going to open in places where there's a labor market and where there's a large population of students.”
The biggest problem arising is a neglect of the West, the researchers argue, where “a school could determine prices and access unilaterally and possibly practice price discrimination.”
More broadly, the issues raises a more philosophical question about what higher education represents.
“We have this idea that higher education as a societal institution is egalitarian … there's also a lot of reasons why it isn't,” said Steinbaum. “This is one tiny piece of evidence among a broad painting of the fact that the higher education system is extremely stratified.”
‘They're screwed on the front end’ as well as ‘the other end’
Another problem of “education deserts” trickles down below higher education.
“Folks in these certain geographic areas which more often tend to be rural, have fewer options,” Ryan Wells, associate professor of higher education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, told Yahoo Finance.
Rural students not only had fewer options for college, he explained, but they also had fewer resources to prepare them for college in the first place when compared to their suburban or urban counterparts.
“It's kind of like — to put it crassly — they're screwed on the front end with what they have with their preparation and their resources and things to be ready for college,” Wells said, “and then fewer options on the other end as well.”
Responsible colleges offer a way out
Fortunately, there are some good actors that restore faith in the system.
The University of Wyoming — despite having “monopoly” status — takes its job to offer accessible higher education seriously.
“We are quite a blue-collar state,” University of Wyoming spokesperson Chad Baldwin told Yahoo Finance. “Only about 24% of our adults have a bachelor's degree or higher [so] one of our goals is to try to lift the educational attainment level.”
Baldwin noted that the university has a broad open admissions standard: “Our acceptance rate is something in the order of 97%.” Furthermore, according to Baldwin, more than half of the university’s graduates who started as first-time students didn’t graduate with any student loan debt, thanks to low tuition and fees, and a state scholarship program.
“The tuition for a Wyoming resident undergraduate for a year is about $6,300,” he added.
Factoring in living costs and so on, that comes up to about $13,000 per year, based on data from the Department of Education’s College Scorecard

Hi! I'm a college student currently working on a group project for a German class. The project itself is over a pretty abstract concept and spans over two days. One of the ways we are considering getting this abstract concept across is canceling class and having students write what they did during the canceled class time.
Our hope was to have the students post where others could see them. I've been looking for a site or program that could do this that's a little more engaging than the Canvas discussion boards. It would be cool if it had a social media element to it.
Does anyone know any programs like this?
Ideally, students would be able to log on, post their blog posts, and see what others say on the same page.
I'm open to other ideas also. Thanks in advance!
Hello, I am a California student. I was curious on if a vice principal, principal, aid, or teacher could get you in trouble for not breaking any rules.
To elaborate, if I were to do something that they wouldn't like, but it was not against the school rules, would it be a punishable offence?
My friend and I were planning on setting up a TV so we could play classic NES games during break and lunch break. We have proper ways to conceal it so that it wont be distracting people, and will only do it during student time. The games will not be inappropriate (Mario, Zelda, Kirby, and punch out)
Let's say an online education service was released to the world. Users for this service could use it freely and would be credited for their performance. Employers would be able to reliably see the performance of a person in an industry, and use that to decide whether to hire or not. Maybe this service has become more trustworthy than any university in the nation. How would this affect the world?
Leave out any "this isn't very probable" or "it would be a very difficult thing to make". I'm just fantasizing here.
Hi! Urban Institute again, sharing another education policy resource: "Free for All? Investigating Who Would Get Free College."
A federal free college program could dramatically change the landscape of higher education, but much depends on the choices legislators make. Which students, and which institutions, would be eligible? Which college expenses would be covered?
This interactive shows how the answers to these questions could dictate which students would benefit from a broad free college plan.
Hello! I am conducting some research and would appreciate it SO much for anyone to fill this out. It’s a survey on luxury. Please fill this out if you are between 20-45 years old.
I’m in all honors classes and have As in almost all of them. I want to skip a grade, but idk what to do about that.
David Purpel, philosopher of education, writes, "The major question we need to ask educators is not 'What is your philosophy of education?' but 'What is your philosophy of life and what are its ramifications for education?'
I’m having a difficult time wrapping my head around this. What does life’s ramifications of education mean to you? I’m seeing it as, the effects of life that negatively affect education.
Hi All,
I am doing a meta-analysis for school comparing various ways the school system can be improved and their price to find the optimal price for performance ratio. If that makes sense.
What ways are governments or other bodies trying to improve education? Or new research to improve student performance?
So far I have
-The banning of homework
-Banning of phones
-Higher teacher salaries
-Longer teaching education
-Starting school earlier
-Reduction in air pollution
Thanks
Hi friends, I’m interviewing for a position as an educator at a science museum. I am supposed to present a 5-10 minute lesson about any STEM related topic. It should require minimal supplies and be engaging and teach something well. I am being interviewed by three people so I was thinking something physical that would necessitate them getting up and moving around. Anyone have any ideas?
Hello! I have some questions for you all regarding a research proposal I am working on for my ESL Theory class. I’m thinking about writing a proposal for a study that investigates whether someone that has learned an L3 and doesn’t use their L2 will experience more or less language attrition than someone who doesn’t use their L2 and doesn’t know an L3? I am thinking that in the proposal I will propose a longitudinal study where I will test students or whoever that is learning an L2 and will determine their ability, then after a year or two (or more?) of not using the L2 and the other half of the participants not using the L2 but also learning a L3, I will test the participants on the same skills that they were test on before to see which group experiences more L2 attrition. I will potentially add another variable: I will have some of the participants in the group that learned an L3 have two typologically similar L2’s and L3’s and the other half typologically different L2’s and L3’s. I will also be studying adults as kids are studied more in this regards. I have some sources I could potentially use to justify this. Do you have any ideas for things I could search for to get sources? I’ve tried all the obvious ones, and I’ve been checking JSTOR, ERIC, and the Linguistics Database from ProQuest Central. If you have any suggestione at all please tell me. Or if this interests you and you happen to know something about it or some article or study related to this please let me know. I know this is very vague and may be stupid, but this is my only idea so far for a proposal for my ESL Theory class and it’s due on Wednesday. I’ve been focusing too hard on my sociolinguistics study you may have seen 😕 at least that one is going well lol. If you can think of anything that can help me, please let me know! PM me! Or write here!
I’m sure this will get downvoted to oblivion, but I don’t really care. Geometry is pointless. Why do we have to have an entire year dedicated to learning concepts that will never be used ever again? Why is our future success dependent on material that’ll lose all relevancy once we pass the class? Why are we wasting an entire year learning something useless instead of things that are required to participate in society? Why are people defending it?
Now I know this isn’t a new or revolutionary thing to say, as a matter of fact I’ve seen it so many times I know what your response will be. “It’s not about the material, it’s about the problem solving skills!” Really? Is that right? Then why are we being graded on the material? Now allow me to use my debating skills to show you how absolutely awful that defense is. I can accept that geometry teaches you problem solving skills, I can’t deny that. But really that’s missing the point, isn’t it? If geometry only exists in high schools to teach us problem solving skills, then why not replace geometry with actually useful material? Wouldn’t it be way more efficient to learn problem solving skills while also learning about taxes, mortgages, and all that stuff that is required in adult life but rarely ever taught in high school? Honestly why do I even need to describe how illogical “it’s for the problem solving skills” is? That’s more of an argument against it than for it. Geometry is also not a very good way of teaching problem solving skills, is it? Of all the vessels to carry lessons on problem solving skills in, why geometry, something that a lot of students just cannot understand? Students aren’t being graded on their problem solving skills, they’re being graded on how well they understand something pointless, so the argument of problem solving skills is completely and utterly void. It’s got so many holes in it, it’s practically nonexistent. Yet, just like the American education system on a whole, so many people decide to be ignorant to its flaws.
A less common (but still notable) response I see is something along the lines of “I’m a tile-layer, and geometry is 50% of my job” or “I use geometry all the time! Just last week I used [a basic concept like area or angles.]” That’s great and all, and I respect all those tile-layers out there, but unless the school is for tile-layers only, your argument is invalid. I’d even venture to argue (and I know this is a stretch) that the majority of high school graduates will not be tile-layers. Now requiring everyone to learn information that will only be useful to a specific career path is an issue with all of the American education system, and not exclusive to geometry. However, I don’t think ANY career is going to use proofs or what not, so why not have the information required for the career be quickly taught in the courses to get degrees in that career/career path? Why waste everyone’s time and effort? Which leads to the next argument, that you’ve used a basic geometric concept like area or volume or angles or whatever. I mean fantastic, well done, you remembered some basic formulas that really could’ve just been looked up if needed. I mean that’s basically the equivalent of knowing a fun fact about whoever invented carrot peelers or something. Sure, you may have used it once or twice when someone is using a carrot peeler and for whatever reason it’s the focus of conversation, and you may even look a bit smart for a moment, but that information is going to sit in your brain doing absolutely nothing for almost your entire life, and if anyone really cared about the inventor of carrot peelers, they would’ve looked it up. This is coming from someone who loves useless facts that I will almost surely never get to share, as a matter of fact I’m probably going to research the inventor of carrot peelers after I’m done writing this, and that leads me to my final point.
Is geometry entirely useless? No. Are you wrong for enjoying it or being good at it? No. But is it applied to the American education system in any logical way? Absolutely not. A year should not be required. I think it would be fantastic as an optional elective class, as well as a small part of another math course, but an entire year requirement is entirely indefensible and utterly illogical. Especially when it’s taking up time that could be used for far more useful material. Come at me, tile-layers.
(Not sure if I chose the right flair...)
My friend tried to convince me last night that public school exists only because housewives needed something to do while their children were at school, but still needed to be available to their children during out-of-school hours. He did not substantiate this with any evidence.
I'm researching the history of public school and the major themes I see are poor vs. wealthy, practical ed vs. scholarly ed., the role of the industrial revolution, and religion and race issues. I'm pretty sure my friend is full of it.
Has anyone else heard this housewife theory before? Can anyone point to research that might be useful in this scenario?
This article details the corporate privatization of public schools via Career and Tech education that is happening in the state of Virginia and across the country. https://www.salon.com/2020/02/11/how-corporations-are-forcing-their-way-into-americas-public-schools_partner/
I did superior in homeworks, projects, etc. but I hate tests.
Ok I don’t how to work out this probability.
The first probability is: there is a 60% chance that that it will not rain and a 40% chance it will. What is the chance it will rain after 2,3,4 and 5 days.
The other one is:
There is a 40% chance it won’t rain and a 60% chance it will. What is the chance that it will rain twice out of 3,4, and 5 days.
Please help.
What are some of the pros and cons?
I found a few opportunities for example
Harvard and Stanford offer free tuition if your family makes less than $150k
USC if your family makes less than $80k.
NY State offers free tuition at all public colleges for Military Vets
Texas offers 3 years of free education at their public universities for all Military Vets from Texas who've been on Active Duty for at least 1 year.
I plan on using this board for writing plans and schedules as a student attending university. I'm excited to see how it looks on my wall.
You can check them out on
If you also want a board.
It’s the fact that Society puts so much emphasis on them that ruins education, in my opinion.
If they were a background thing that measured how well students were doing and if they needed help, they’d be fine in my opinion.
Parental Pressure, the use of it in Job Applications, and the use of it in University Applications is what ruins the grading system.
I also find “Grades don’t define you” speeches in schools to be very... emotionally manipulative. Anyone else?
I'm 23, I don't have my GED, I dropped out of highschool at 17. I'm currently studying a GED book, I have no idea how I learn, as in the 7 different ways to absorb information. I can't focus, but I did start reading out loud and it kind of helps. I have the inspiration to do it and the motivation but the anxiety of failing puts these mental walls in my head that slow me down and make me feel dumb even though a lot of my family genuinely think I'm smart. I'm just looking for guidance, some tips, anything because, I'm ready to start this new chapter in life and follow my fathers footsteps of being in IT.
I’m working as an academic coordinator for a small English language center in Asia. For our expansion program, we want to create online classes that allow students to join with us regarding distances. Just wanna know if there are any websites out there (preferably free) that would allow us to create timed online tests to assess student learning? Thank you very much
I am currently in a B.Sc program in computer science and engineering. However I wanted to become a mechanical engineer, but for some unfortunate reasons am stuck with CSE. So I was wondering whether it would be possible for me to get a M.Sc degree in ME after completing my bachelors. Also, can it be done in the universities in Germany (Since they are excellent in engineering programs). My point of interest is in the automotive sector.
Thank you,
Heyhey, I'm a 25 years old college dropout thinking about going back to study in September. I would like to study English and French at the open university ( an online university based in the UK) while working part time. Then eventually get other certifications like CELTA or DIPP. I've already a quite good level in both languages but would like to get into translation or teaching, which you usually need a degree for. I have also thought to study other subjects to integrate my languages skills, but don't really feel like study business, marketing or other. Any suggestions about a career in this sector? Anyone with similar experience? I'm just a bit afraid to be going for a degree not really effective work wise.
I stumbled across an article discussing this awhile ago but can't for the life of me find it again, or even what it was, exactly.
To oversimplify it, if we treat all knowledge that exists as being contained in a large sphere, and our current level of knowledge as a smaller sphere inside the larger one.
When engaging with a piece of content, there are lots of things that could be focused on, but just beyond the boundaries of our current knowledge is a sweet spot/band of knowledge that can be particularly effortlessly acquired. Even if we are able to grasp onto somehow far beyond the bounds of our sphere, it'll be difficult to hold onto (or we'll recall it in a limited fashion) because it's too many steps away from our current level of knowledge and not grounded in anything.
An important takeaway from this is that what we can take from a given piece of content will change over time, so we should expect to revisit content and, each time we do, to slightly re-adjust our sights.
(It seems like it may be related to Stephen Krashen's hypotheses on comprehensible input)
It says it’s for military and veterans to help pay for private school for k-12.

I've been curious about this issue all day. We all know that the American education system (from K to 12th grade) is not preparing kids for both college and the future and kids not caring about school in general. But my question is, is this all coming from selection bias? Are all these coming from mainly inner city and rural schools (who are mostly underfunded and, well at least for inner city ones, chaotic and overcrowded) rather than suburban and private schools (who are usually more funded, less chaotic and less overcrowded). My mom thinks that American education gets a bad rep because they get most of their statistics from public schools located in poor inner city areas filled with minorities and whatnot and ignore those from more affluent areas or suburban areas (and even ignoring private schools). I don't know about rural or suburban schools or schools that are predominantly white outside cities or in suburbs, but I did go to grade school here in Queens NY (which technically counts as inner city, but there are so many top high schools here in NYC that not every school is bad), and I went to a fairly average public high school that is very ethnically diverse. As far as I can tell, the system is just bad: forcing kids to take regents and studying for them for the purpose of passing with a 65 (55 if you're in special ed) to get a diploma rather than what you learned, the majority of kids don't care about learning (even those who are 'college ready' really only care about grades than learning), very overcrowded and security guards everywhere making sure everyone stays inside. So is the issue with American education the same everywhere or is it only in selected areas (namely public schools in inner cities or poorer areas)?
Yesterday, 200 million children in China went back to school however it was online rather than face to face. 7000 servers capable of serving 50 million users at one time have been set up to allow students a level of continuity during their absence from school. This is combined with online TV lessons that are accessible to those who do not have computers. The sheer scale of this initiative is enormous. Children will be missing the face to face interaction with their teachers and friends but obviously there health and safety are of paramount importance. Again, China has shown that even in the face of adversity they have a solution to try and make the best of the situation. I doubt any other country could put something like this together so quickly.
I'm a student from Japan and from specific reasons I have to study to get a GED diploma in June. However I do not know where to start. Japan has no GED preparation classes from what I can see and I don't know what to buy to study for it.
I have no knowledge of U.S.A.'s Social Studies nor Biology and for Mathematics, I have to convert from using Cm/Meters to Inches/Feet.
Looking through the practise questions, they provide explainations for the answers but I do know understand some of them as I do not have the fundamentals. So I'm clueless as to questions like, "When would the speaker of the House become president?" I do not even know what's the sqeaker of the house.
Also, on the GED website, they offer online courses and practise questions, but I need to know the basic knowledge first.
I would think I'm fine with English and Mathematics 「with just abit of tuning」but I'm honestly worried about Science and Social Studies. What can I do?
I have 45pts worth of essays to write in the next 45 minutes, how should i do this without losing motivation or focus. I normally write my essays very well and receive full/high credit, but it takes me time to do so. Any advice is appreciated!

Has anyone ever heard of an administrator forcing a teacher to wear a pedometer and mic for evaluations?
One of our professors is having a mandatory make up lecture, he skipped the scheduled one, a day after our cumulative final.
Our school receives US Financial Aid. I was wondering does anyone know if this violates any DOE policies or norms for students to be tested on material that wasn’t properly instructed? I’m sure the professor is trying to cover his butt with accreditation and the required class/lecture time but seems like a violation to test on material before all required instruction was delivered.
I’m looking for a direct for policy codes or terminology to use while protesting this. Not trying to get the test invalidated, trying to get out of a mandatory group class case study on material that I already taught myself. Help.
Please and thank you.
Tools: 1:1 student Chromebooks, windows laptop, iPad, and smart board.
My plan is to be able to do what smart notebook maestro fails miserably to do. I want to be able to mark up documents and collaborate on pages from my iPad, while students can manipulate those markings and designs and pages from the smart board. Being able to do this from my iPad grants me full mobility around the classroom. I'm looking for an alternative to smart notebook maestro, one that actually works. Thanks for your help and recommendations!
Hey guys last year I went around the UK to speak to a number of students about how they had coped with their own wellbeing and the ways University had dealt with issues surrounding it.
I was wondering if any of you wanted to check it out and start a discussion around the topic.
I took special ed classes in school and I fell like I have no help. I am mentally disabled and i want to finish school. Can anyone help me please.
