We recently found out that, from next year the schools in our area won’t teach in English. We speak 2 languages at home and LO is already growing up bilingual. The schools will teach in a third language.
I work in education and currently teach some content and language integrated learning classes. I’m aware of the power of language in education and see there can be benefits in the correct structured environment.
Is it possible that having our child taught in a third language, that isn’t English and we don’t understand, is a disadvantage and would be confusing for all of us?
This is specifically preschool and elementary/primary school, so age 3-5 up.
I am wondering what the wider community think about this? Looking for any input, opinions and advice. Look forward to hearing from you... Thank you!
