Hi everyone,
I am a high school psychology teacher and I just got the opportunity to head the Academic Resource Program at our school. In the past the resource program was essentially a tutoring program where kids who were struggling could come and get subject specific help from student tutors or teachers. The previous resource coordinator would also help the kids keep track of their assignments in the old school planners that you are probably familiar with if you went to high school within the last thirty years.
I would like to approach the resource program like a research project. I would focus on the effects that teaching meta cognitive skills and strategy’s would have on a students academic achievement. My hope, is that by teaching students meta cognitive skills I could help them become better self-regulated learners which could potentially affect their academic performance.
In addition to meta cognitive skills and strategies I would also collect data on Academic self-concept, academic self-efficacy, conscientiousness, self-regulation ability and emotional regulation ability to investigate how these concepts affect academic performance as well.
At the moment I’m having trouble finding proper measures that I could use for my research.
Can anyone help?
Also if you have any suggestions about methodology for performing academic research please share.
Thanks I’m advance everyone.
