Thoughts and Advice on Lindamood-Bell for Compensatory Education

Hello,

I am a foster-to-adopt parent to a 16yo who has suffered a lot of trauma and disruption in his past. In his previous residential school, I was his surrogate parent for the purposes of his IEP. They failed to provide him a FAPE for 11 months, leading to a Department of Education complaint and a finding in his favor. He was ordered 50 hours compensatory education.

An IEE was done for him, due to a complete lack of trust in the school. The IEE found that based on his presentation he may have a diagnosis of dyslexia, but it was impossible to tell due to the number of schools he had attended and the amount of past trauma he had suffered. When I asked the IEE administrator her thoughts on a best use for the 50 hours, she recommended I look into Lindamood-Bell for help with his reading fluency, as it is the thing that will most impact his future.

Has anyone here had experience with Lindamood-Bell? What may 50 hours of compensatory education with them look like - would it help, would it engage him, would it just be a beginning before I'm asked to pay for more? I have looked into their website and found they offer camps, but it seems like those may be more than 50 hours, and may be ultra-expensive if I were to cover beyond 50 hours. I'm just looking for a more neutral take on them before I give them a call myself and get their sales pitch.

Thank you!
