Is it just me or does school just teach kids to be quiet?

Some of the most important skills in life are social skills, yet school does not teach this. In fact, school teaches the opposite. In my experience, education is essentially introvert molding. There is nothing teachers hate more than seeing students socialize. Quiet students are praised as "good kids." Some of the greatest memories are through relationships and social situations, yet school prohibits these from happening.

Anyone else feel the same? Has school ever been an appropriate place to make friends?
