bullying as a kid hinder your academic potential?

hi guys,

i have a lot of anger toward the people who "bullied" or "looked down upon me" in school (especially high school). my parents sometimes still bring up my high school grades/performance which were not very good, and say they wish i had performed better and gotten into a good college. i have a high ego and although it's been years since high school i haven't told them about how mean people were to me (just don't want anyone to know). 100% sure if it wasn't for the mean kids i wouldn't have been so sad and would have performed better. anyways, does anyone here think their school performance or someone's they know wasn't great because of the "popular/mean kids?" i still get angry about this topic from time to time when i remember high school and hope schools start taking bullying more seriously
