I just had a thought, and I'm curious to know what others think. What if students could hold debates on added extra-curriculums, like wood and metal shop, bicycle mechanics, clay sculpting, as well as languages? Potentially even the length of the (following)school year(within reason, and they still have to complete the curriculum)? With minimal influence beyond informative from administrators, and obviously staying within policy restrictions.
I think it could encourage students to be more active in their student governments(granted I've been out of school about a decade now), especially if they saw that their voices could enact real change, even if on a relatively small scale(a high school), and in turn, encourage more young adults to be both informed, and active in their local, and federal governments after graduation
