Hey, I'm not a parent or even a teacher, however, one of my classmates in High School would always rely on his older sisters for help. Which at first I thought it was cute how the older sisters would do anything for him, but after seeing their relationship and friendship unfold, the classmate almost entirely relied on his older sisters to make it through school. Even when it comes to handing in various permission slips and/or forms for trips, afterschool programs, internships, or even clubs the older sister would hand in the forms for him or complete it herself on his behalf. I understand it's not my place to judge their relationship, however, as the son of two immigrant parents who could barely speak English, I usually had to fill in, hand in, and complete various tasks myself with very little help from my parents. Looking back, I was glad that my parents never tried to help me as I slowly became more independent and could handle various problems and issues by myself. Seeing how dependant my classmate is on his sisters really makes me wonder what will happen when there comes a time when he cannot ask for their guidance and aide? As, right now they are the reasons why he wakes up in time for school, gets involved in extracurricular activities, and even getting his school work done.
