Diane Tavenner, CEO of Summit Public Schools, makes $450,000 annually.

Negotiations have been at an impasse since 2021, and now teachers are threatening to take steps toward a strike if a new contract isn’t reached with the administration, which includes the highest-paid school administrator in California, CEO Diane Tavenner, with a salary of more than $450,000 annually. During the pandemic, teachers at Summit faced threats of pay freezes and layoffs despite Sunmit receiving millions of dollars in PPP loans. Diane Tavenner and Summit management continue to bargain in bad faith and refuse to accept union contract proposals. This is while California and the nation are experiencing the largest teacher exodus due to poor working conditions, burnout, and low pay.
