is our education system too far gone?

The sheer amount of restructuring that needs to be done is ASTOUNDING.

we have over worked, over stressed teachers. getting under paid and assaulted by students / parents with virtually NO WAY to respond that doesnt get them fired.

First, WHAT SHOULD BE EDUCATED.

- the laws of the country. should be studied every year in high school. The amount of people who take advantage / get taken of advantaged of because of ignorance to the law is incredibly high.

- taxes / money management / personal finances

- Math and science need overhauling. there should be an additional / new course that teaches how these things are / can be applied to every day life. Yes, bleach bad. But lets go beyond that sentence and teach everyday ways it can be used and also teach the ways it should be avoided to be used and such and such. Also Math is an extremely useful tool for traveling when applied correctly. Ive used math to guesstimate to within minutes when i'd reach my destination (of hours long trips) with how much gas id have remaining / etc.

- SEX ED / mental health EVERY YEAR (or every other year) from 6-12 (mental health should start at kindergarten tho). THIS PLEASE. Children are confused, and many of them have parents who REFUSE TO TALK ABOUT PUBERTY.. because its gross. Seriously I know parents need to do more but some of them are mentally incapable of it.

- time management

- mandatory cooking / house cleaning classes. People need to know how to take care of themselves.

- more engineering / computer science classes.

- LESS GEN ED classes (let me explain). for ex History is a great tool to the past, provided the contents havent been manipulated / changed to better suit a political agenda. But a lot of the same crap gets regurgitated EVERY year in K-12. Same thing with English and other classes. If someone finds they have a huge passion for history, let them choose to study it as en elective or pursue it in University. I think time should be better allocated to more urgent needs in education in K-12. start teaching history in like 4th grade AT THE EARLIEST. use those for years of development for better classes. Like mental health and such. honestly aside from math and reading and basic scientific concepts like : fire bad / don't jump off the roof / cars vs human is not a good idea. Children should be studying more fundamental things that make them better little humans and not tiny pieces of shit.

secondly, and just as important. MORE TEACHER RIGHTS.

Teachers, imo should be able to tell a shitty parent that they are a shitty parent and need to fuck off. Perhaps in a gentler tone. But a teacher should not be reprimanded for EDUCATING a parent.

They should also receive more help. and more pay.

Not much else to say on this i guess. Many teachers work hard to raise the next generation of humans and get peanuts for their effort.
