Pls help me out. I'm torn between taking a new bachelor's degree, and taking a master's that is of a different field from a degree I graduated from.

I graduated in BS-Interior Design, but now I'm planning to study again but abroad, choosing between Canada or New Zealand. However, I wanted to study a digital marketing degree which is a completely different field from interior design, and as I looked it up, it would take me another 3-4yrs if I took a bachelor's.

And then my friend told me why don't I just learn the basics of marketing through free online courses for a few months and then take a master's in marketing, and it would take me just 1-2yrs to finish than that of bachelor's which is 3-4yrs. I told her I don't think free courses would be enough for me to get a grasp of how digital marketing works and I fear that taking a masters without that foundation would cost me later on.

So far my main concerns if i were to take master's are: 1. What if employers prefer hiring someone with a master's who graduated from a bachelor's of the same field.

  1. It's true that it takes a shorter period of time to finish, but I'm not sure if taking it without the necessary foundation would be the all right.

Can anyone please give me advice for this? I'm considering my friend's advice, especially because of the pros of having a master's degree(higher salary, shirter period etc.) but I'm hesitant to do so since I feel like I'm not cut out for it
