Hello!
I am new to this subreddit, so please direct me elsewhere if this isn't the appropriate community for this question.
I am looking for scientific literature that compares the outcomes, advantages, disadvantages, etc. of enrolling a child into various schooling systems (e.g., public schools, charter schools, homeschooling, unschooling, self-directed learning schools, etc.)
While I don't have children yet, I plan to in the near future (next 2-3 years), and I want to compare all of my options for education so I can make an informed decision. I was a public school child myself. However, I was also raised in a very rural community, and went to a small K-12 school where my graduating class was just 21 students. Therefore, I don't believe my public school experience is an accurate representation. Additionally, I grew up alongside many homeschooled students, all of which were extremely religious. If I chose this route, we would be a secular household.
Also, I live in Michigan, if that matters.
Anyways, if you know of any scientific research on this topic, please provides links or point me in the right direction! Additionally, if you feel you are well-read on this topic and are able to provide an unbiased response, feel free to provide a summary of what the current literature says.
Thanks a bunch! Looking forward to the responses.
