A second bachelor's degree

Does anyone know if you can use the credits from an already completed bachelor's degree towards a second one?

For example, my New Zealand Bachelor of Arts consisted of five core papers, nine major papers and 11 electives.

If I decide to do a second degree and I've already completed some of the required papers from the first degree, do I have to take them again?
