Any recommendations for online associates degree or community college?

I have a son that wants to pursuit an online transferable associates degree at a online college. I don't know any online community colleges that allow students to be fully online (virtual or asynchronous) that are affordable and have a good reputation. My son's plan is to pursuit an online associates degree and then transfer and take online Classes at a University while working internships to gain experiences. He aspires to become a diplomat or something with foreign affairs and wants to utilize his ability to speak German and English. Does anyone have recommendations of any colleges that offer a online and affordable associates degree that's transferable for a future bachelor's? I haven't been to college myself, so I would appreciate any advice you may have.
