My son has an IEP and has a manifestation hearing coming up prior to expulsion meeting. Quick facts- The school changed his schedule without my consent and I never signed the revised IEP for these changes. He is diagnosed with ADHD and was caught in possession of a vape, which is the cause for expulsion meeting.
I know the manifestation meeting is to determine if the disability was the cause for the behavior but would them taking him out of basic skills class without my consent be grounds for arguing the expulsion? This is all hard to navigate but I do believe expulsion would be the worst thing that could happen to my son. He needs structure and familiarity. We fully acknowledge the severity of the offense but we also want to fight to keep him in school.
