Ivy League universities take the best students to begin with so why do we praise the university instead of the students?

Ivy leagues or other top-tier universities take only the best amongst the best, so I would assume that those students were talented, to begin with. The universities only provide a proper platform for the students to showcase their capabilities. It is not like these universities take average or below-average students and make them extraordinary. I can see that this logic applies to all highly competitive educational institutes.
