I am a student who works part-time as a babysitter. I have been picking up two boys aged 7 and 9 occasionally and play with them. We don’t understand each other’s language and I am also expected to familiarize them with my local language naturally.
However, I have been unable to bond with the boys or make things fun for them. I used to be able to play with children quite well but those children were younger and we speak the same language.
I have tried making crafts, drawing and playing simple games like hide and seek with them. But things just don’t go natural and I believe we all feel awkward and pressured.
I know all children are different but could there be any tips for communicating with young boys and finding ways to open their hearts?
