Self Education and how to properly learn from information and research by yourself.

As someone who dislikes the current education system I always find I'm educating myself, but I feel that in order to further my education I need to dig deeper and learn from those who have been commendated for their teaching for years if not centuries, economists and philosophers like Socrates and Thomas Sowell and Aristotle are people who I would like to learn from and I guess my question is how would I even go upon finding the teaching of these centuries old philosophers and other teachers who do not necessarily have updated literature.

tldr How the hell do I learn from the teachings of Socrates and Aristotle and like philosophers or economists or just smart people who lived centuries ago.
