DoYouNotes: PDF notes + active recall + spaced repetition = memorize faster

Hi!

TL;DR: I made DoYouNotes.com, an app that helps students memorize faster, by applying active recall and spaced repetition directly to their PDF notes.

Probably many people in this sub are familiar with active recall and spaced repetition, as they are great memorization techniques backed by science. There are many amazing tools that help students apply these techniques: Anki, Quizlet, Notion, RemNote, and the list goes on.

All the tools require students to do some preparatory work before the actual memorizing (for example preparing flashcards or taking notes with a specific software) and this can be time-consuming or scare away students. That's why I decided to develop DoYouNotes: it lets students apply active recall and spaced repetition directly to their PDF notes, reducing the preparatory work to the absolute minimum. It's also very easy to use: I want every student to be able to adopt an efficient study technique without friction.

Here is how it works:

  1. you upload a PDF with your notes or book,
  2. you split it into small sections, and optionally add a title/question to each,
  3. the app prompts you to recall the content of sections, one-by-one, while covering them (active recall),
  4. you self-evaluate, and the app schedules the next review accordingly, in the following days (spaced repetition),
  5. you can track your progress by checking which sections of the PDF you reviewed, and when.

The app was launched this year, it's still new but it has all basic the functionalities in place. Just last week, one of our first users took the first exam fully prepared with DoYouNotes, and passed with full marks!

If you want to be one of the first students to try this new method, visit doyounotes.com, try the demo if you want, and sign in. The app is free up to 20 questions/day (the unlimited plan is 3.49 eur/month). Also, join r/DoYouNotes, where I will personally answer all of your questions and hopefully fix any issue that you report in a matter of days :)

I hope this is helpful for you, and maybe changes some students' life for the better ;)

Have a nice day!
