Is it worth it to apply to 5-10 prestige universities?

I think my chances of getting accepted into prestigious universities are on the low side, but it might be possible (My GPA is only 3.5).

Would it make sense to apply to 5-10 prestige universities? I don't know how much bigger the time commitment is for applying to one university vs. many universities? I guess some things can be reused/rewritten?

Once you have applied for the first university, how much extra time does it then take to apply for other universities?
