If you remove yourself from the politics, is there actually a benefit to the Florida B.E.S.T. math standards?

It seems to me like the Common Core standards do a perfectly fine job of codifying mathematics learning. Are the new Florida standards like, 100% politics over the idea of "common core," or do they make substantive improvements to the standards?
