Hi! I have been out of school for a long time (about 4-5 years) due to a traumatic event that happened when I was in the 10th grade. I tried going back awhile after that and I just couldn't handle it due to the panic attacks I was having at school constantly. I am now 20 years old, and I need to decide what direction I want to take in terms of a career. Somehow, I feel that my attitude towards education (and knowledge in general) has increased a lot as I now find learning about history, certain science, and psychology very interesting. When I was in high school, I had a terrible attitude towards learning and didn't really put much effort towards school. I have a good idea what direction I wanna take (something in the medicine field or science field that doesn't require very overwhelming schooling and work).
I'm mainly concerned if I will be able to handle school mentally, due to the extreme brain fog issues I deal with today. It is way worse now than when I was in school. I want to pursue a career that is interesting, meaningful, and most importantly not overwhelming. Is there some kind of way I can test my current learning skills before I decide if I want to take the GED, finish all my high school credits, or apply to college as a mature student.
