2nd Grade MAP scores

Hi all,

Had a quick question. Is it possible for a child to be “gifted” in one area specifically? The last couple of years her school has used STAR. On her STARs she has always scored in the 99th percentile for Language/Reading. This year they switched to MAP and she scored a 219 on Language and 202 on Reading. Math was 197. She was pulled yesterday for differentiated math and said it was very hard and didn’t understand it. I’m just not sure what (if anything) to make of these scores. Thanks in advance.
