A-Level or AP?

I wasn't sure which subreddit to post this in, if there is another subreddit that would better suit my question, please direct me towards it.

(I don't live in the UK, US or Canada)

I attend a British curriculum school, and am interested in pursuing Neuroscience. I've taken English, Psychology, Maths and Biology for my A-Levels, but the school is requesting that I drop A-Level Maths since my GCSE marks in Maths were low (high 7 and the school requires an 8). I do find Maths slightly difficult, but I feel that it would be beneficial towards a career in Neuroscience if I were to take Maths. We are allowed to do APs out of school.

Would it still contribute towards university if I were to drop A-Level Math and take AP statistics instead? Would universities/ careers count it? I have not really fixed on a particular university or country to attend, but would like to keep my options open. Are there any other options I can consider?

Thanks in advance.
