Even those with poor grades deserve a high quality university/college/upper level education experience if they choose to pursue that.
Education has been a topic of great interest to me for many years. It's never been my profession, the closest I've gotten is substitute "teaching" and school boarding, but I was raised to believe that education itself has a value regardless it's practicality.
I started dropping out of school in 7th grade on a routine basis, and when I would attend throughout my junior/senior high years it was sporadic and limited in duration. But I was a wanderer and a reader and lived among other wanderers and readers. I learned new and complicated things on a daily basis for the most part.
But my grades sucked, and I never did get my HS diploma from my home town.
When I joined up with the Army in 1975, I had to take an entrance exam that was required of all entering personnel whether enlisted or commissioned. I came in at around the 80% percentile. I did get a high school diploma at the order of my commanding officer; and I took and handily passed a handful of CLEP exams on my own.
I did attend college for a short time: night time job with day time classes. The "Writing Well" class has been a blessing in my life for sure. I've also self-educated in various areas of sciences with an emphasis on programming. I've learned about animal husbandry and radio programming and so much more in my life.
And if you want to talk finances - I've done well above the average.
All of this with really sucky grades. Don't throw those with sucky grades to the side. We're extremely valuable.
