Giftedness and information and stuff

For context, 14M Australian school system.

My parents just chewed me out after my math teacher just called to say I'm seriously not applying myself in her class, and "although I 'get' the work with minimal effort, I could be doing so much more". My parents listed my teachers from K-7 and all my teacher's comments on my mathematical ability and my giftedness in other areas such as writing aswell as my advanced logic for my age and my ability to dive into topics deeply (not bragging just providing context).

(I am in the 2nd highest class in maths, top in all other subjects)

I am not lazy as I do "deep dive" (in my past teacher's words) into topics that really peak my interest such as geopolitics, Russia, China, Iran, etc. However, when I hear all my past teachers talking about my mathematical ability at such a high level, and then look at the work I do today (impressive, but not AS impressive) I kind of just wonder if my mathematical ability worsened, if I am not my "gifted" self anymore, or if I just applied myself into different areas of learning.
Edit: (After reading this through, this entire reddit post just sounds like an unfinished thought, of which it is, apologies for any inconvenience in reading this)
I guess my question is, can anyone relate to my situation or give me guidance?
