How do schools *receive* funding? I understand funding comes from a mix of federal, state, and local dollars, but how does it actually get to the school? Does the school have a bank account?

I'm just curious how the payments systems work in education. In addition to the questions above, how do districts pay teachers? How do districts pay vendors (e.g., curriculum vendors)? Do they just have a bank account for the district, and that's controlled by the Superintendent of Finance (or equivalent title)?
