In case anyone is wondering what local school districts might be looking at to determine if they can and will require vaccination of teachers, staff, and/or students in your district in the coming months...
The National School Boards Association has released this FAQ, including case law and other touchstones, to guide those local/state decisions.
The summary, as near as I can see it, is that unless local and/or state laws or Governor-level emergency declarations specifically prohibit vaccine mandates, your state, your local township, and/or your local district ALL can and may make vaccination mandatory for teachers, staff, and/or students (with the usual medical exceptions and OFTEN the usual religious exceptions, though I note that my own state [MA] has, in state law, a caveat that if the state Dept. of Public Health declares an epidemic or health emergency, that can override the ability for parents to take religious exception for their kids)... and would not need to negotiate the terms with unions.
