I seriously wonder how many schools won't be anywhere near fully staffed day one. I have kept an eye on a few states. I have been in Asia throughout the pandemic and am thinking about moving back but being in an American classroom this upcoming school year with unvaccinated Coviddeniers just seems stupid. It seems as if teaching is experiencing the same effects as nursing where people are burnt out and quitting and there's nobody to replace them. I know none of this is shocking but I really wonder what the profession looks like in a few years. They can keep lowering the bar but even that only works so much when warehouses and fastfood pay more than teaching. Will classes average 40-45 students? Will states actually be forced to raise pay, no matter what that seems like the most last ditch option for my at places? What do some of you think will change in the next five years?
