Hello, so my 14 year old little sister has been homeschooled extremely poorly, to the point where I wonder if she would pass 2nd grade.
She is now in public school, and has been for 2 years, but she is drowning. She is failing all of her classes and has now started skipping school because she does not believe she will ever catch up. She might also have dyslexia or some other learning disability, I am not sure, my mom has refused to let her get tested, but she can hardly read.
I am sick with worry for her, and need help. Are there any programs that could help her catch up? Simply putting her in a lower grade won't help, she has years to catch up in, and she already thinks she is stupid, so that will not help her fill in all the gaps, and it will not help her feel capable. What can I do?
For context purposes, I am much older than her and live 2 hours away from her with a family of my own, but I want to help her as much as I can.
What I am not looking for: homeschool bashing, and dealing with issues with my irresponsible, neglectful mother, that's what my therapy is for, haha.
