33F with dyslexia- in need of tips on how to memorize as a visual learner?

School was difficult for me. I tried SO hard. I did alright, mostly low Bs and Cs though.

I am a very kinesthetic and visual learner. I also need a lot of context to learn something in order to pull together a story in my head that supports the main fact I am trying to remember (if that make sense).

What is a tried and true way for someone like me to finally be able to memorize something? For instance, I am ashamed to say that I can't for the life of me remember the states on a blank map. I could do about 15 correctly but only have the general idea for the rest. I'm still mortified by the fact that I put Portugal somewhere random in 10th grade (it was a European map, but still, mortified).

I have this DESPERATE desire for knowledge but it just seems so unattainable. A total waste of time without the proper tools. I have this deep interest in health, but can barely remember what I learned in order to carry on a conversation without saying something along the lines of "There is this...thing that carries the blood...to the..nevermind" lol

Thank you so much.
