Hi everyone,
Some background information first. This is my 4th year teaching special education. I recently got a new job at a therapeutic Autism day school. I am a male teacher.
Basically, I got called into the office today for a few reasons. First, a kid quietly eloped out of the cafeteria when I had my back turned to help another student and he ended up in the hallway by his locker. Second, I went in the wrong gender bathroom during a field trip because at our school it’s unisex. (This one is technically my fault) Third, I basically asked my staff in my room questions about how to deal with each of the students behavior since I am so new to the classroom. Finally, my instructional coach did NOT like my lessons as I supposedly didn’t differentiate them based on student abilities. Now I have to send her all my lesson plans every week. Luckily this is the first warning so it was only a verbal but I’m getting some bad feelings. Keep in mind that our school also is short staffed.
What do you guys think and what do I do?
