Hi, i am in school to become a teacher in the danish "folkeskole" which is the school that almost all kids go to from the ages around 6-16. Today one of my fellow students said that folkeskole to her represented freedom. My immediate reaction was that i definitely didn't agree, but when we were having a conversation about it i was struggling to figure out why i felt that way. Maybe it is based on my own experience in school where i personally didn't feel free to be myself. I also totally understand and agree with education being something that can help many people to become more free. Although i think education can happen in so many different ways and not necessarily in schoolsystems the way we mostly think of education. I think maybe the education you get in school is something that makes you more free, but the schools as simultaneously limiting and conforming you. Of course freedom is also a strange concept that is difficult to define and probably means something different to each of us. What do you guys think?
