Multiplication recital

Hello,

we have a child who is going to primary school in the USA and we want to teach her the multiplication tables. We parents are immigrants and learned things a different way.

How do American children recite the multiplication tables? Is it for eg: 2 times 1 is 2, 2 times 2 is 4....

or 2 multiplied by 1 equals 2, .....
