I'm 32 years old I feel like I don't have a good education I have 4 kids and I know I would struggle in college if I go back.
I was wondering if there was ways I could exercise my brain I know lumosity exists but I don't really want to pay another monthly fee.

Hey, I’m searching for a school which allow you to take as many classes as you can to finish your master’s degree as early as possible . I don’t care about the amount of work nor how much it will cost. I won’t be workin during the period and can afford to take that long of a break from working. I would like to finish in one year or up to 15 months. I have limited time in which my degree will be paid, so I want to get as many classes finished as possible. I am pursuing a Bachelors in Education whilst working as a Montessori guide and a single parent. It is fairly difficult for me to manage everything and keep a balance between the three. My wife and I are moving back to the USA after teaching abroad for a few years. Our son is now in 2nd grade onto 3rd grade next year. Will we need to get any Ministry of Education or Ministry of Foreign Affairs seals of approval on any of his prior report cards from the government of the region he attended school at for him to be able to enroll him in school in the USA? I don't know if this is the correct subreddit for this question, but why does seemingly every country has high school ending at 18? Why did almost every country agree that the optimal age to enter college was 17/18/19? Why not 21, when you're more mature? Why not at 16, when you're younger? And it seems like almost every country has the same age "cutoff" for college, so it doesn't seem to be a cultural thing. So what makes this age so special. As an educator, it may surprise you to hear that I view most of American education as a scam that drastically needs reform. No amount of debt forgiveness will get to the root of the problems in our education system from high school, all the way through graduate school.
As a high school history teacher, I can assure you that our students are not receiving the education they deserve. While some of us do try to teach life lessons such as taxes, how to get the most tax breaks, investment strategies, and how to start their own small businesses, most teachers do not. Furthermore, we do not teach students critical thinking skills AT ALL, you know this if you went to American public schools where students are expected to blindly listen to their teachers OR ELSE! In my class my students know that they are free to question me, in fact, I encourage it, as why should they merely accept what I have to say? After all, we only met at the beginning of the school year... We teach kids not to talk to strangers, yet we expect them to blindly follow teachers whom they just met, or deal with repercussions?
Another problem with high school is that we do not get students involved in technical schools soon enough, and make ridiculous requirements for them to do so. For example in my school the students must maintain a certain grade level to get in, and if they do not meet this requirement they cannot go until they do. Essentially trapping them in a liberal arts education, when they would thrive in a technical educational setting, but we make them prove it in the setting they struggle in? Anyone with a functioning brain can see the issue with this, yet we maintain the idea that students must do at least one year of high school even if we know for a fact that environment is not good for them. Then we force them to stay in that bad environment until they can supposedly prove that they deserve a chance to pursue learning that actually interests them. We justify this by saying we want them to be well-rounded, but this seems to me to not pass scrutiny.
Now onto the issue of college, which has become the ultimate scam in education. The first problem with college is that we in education have convinced young people that college is necessary for success in life, which could not be further from the truth. For the vast majority of our students, college is a giant waste of time and money. I try to tell my students that they should only go to college if the degree they are pursuing is a requirement for entry into their desired field, AND the financial reward is far greater than the cost of the degree. If the degree they wish to pursue does not meet those requirements then I recommend they think very carefully before spending money they could put to better use. Far too many students are going into college to either drop out in debt, or get a degree in something that they did not even need to do what they end up doing, however, this is only the beginning of the issue with college. Lets talk about the first two years of college, which may be the most insulting aspect of the undergraduate degree.
All of you reading this who attended college know that the first two years are almost entirely useless. Because you would know that the first two years are almost entirely of prerequisite classes (I.E. Intro to Psych, Intro to Sociology, College Writing, and Civilization). The colleges claim that this is to ensure that students can show they belong at the college level or the ethereal notion of ensuring students are more well-rounded. The more you think about these arguments, the less sense they make, until you realize it is all nonsense used to justify forcing kids to spend money they do not have on classes they do not need. We all know that the real reason for this has nothing to do with bettering students and everything to do making more money off of them. Eliminating the first two years of prerequisites would not only help young people, in the long run, it would help colleges with enrollment because more young people would see college as attainable. Perhaps the deepest issue with higher education at the root of all of this is the corporate ideals of credentialism and professional development, or in simplest terms, barriers to entry.
As a soon-to-be graduate of a masters program in educational leadership, it may puzzle you as to why the author of an article so critical of higher education would pursue one themselves. On the surface, this would seem hypocritical, however, I assure you that it makes sense when you consider the earlier requirements laid out for attending an institution of higher learning and the unfortunate reality of credentialism. In my profession, a masters degree is required whether you wish to advance or not, thus a choice had to be made. Slowly acquire credits to maintain my license as I head slowly for a masters in my subject area, or bite the bullet and rush through a masters in educational leadership to pursue a promotion to administration. As mentioned earlier, I would not recommend someone to spend money on a degree without doing a cost-benefit analysis. To me, the benefit of an administrative masters was far greater than of one in my subject area. Even if I do not get promoted, I get the same pay increase for a masters regardless, so it only makes sense to get the degree with more upside. When people wonder why so many young teachers leave for administration, this is a big reason for that. For all the lip-service about teachers deserving better pay, we hardly talk about eliminating these archaic requirements for teachers to maintain their license. I can assure you that I have learned FAR more from actually teaching than all of my education classes combined, and I am certain that I will learn more in the first month of being an assistant principal than the two years of my masters combined.
So what can we do about it? How can we take this knowledge and use what we know to be true to make our education system better? After all, as my favorite President Theodore Roosevelt once quipped ¨Complaining about a problem without posing a solution is called whining.¨ Thus it would be out of character for me to gripe about all of this without making a few suggestions for improvement. The first is to fundamentally re-think how we construct our classrooms. Students should have more opportunity to collaborate with teachers to shape their learning to meet their needs. Expecting students to blindly accept what we say while offering them little say in their education does not teach them the critical thinking skills needed to thrive. Second, we need to consider whether high school is even needed for many of our students, whether it would be better for them to immediately attend a vocational school or an apprenticeship if that fits their needs better. Finally, we need to end the idea that college is required for a good life, and warn students away from pursuing degrees that are not actually required for them to do what they want. These things may not address all of the problems with education in America, but at least they would be a start.

However, because of the market I am in, and I spend my days interviewing students with ADHD and hearing about their pain points when it comes to studying and learning - I think... why are there not more resources out there to help this demographic?
Which leads me to my question - how many of you work at institutions that have an assigned disability department or support department that is responsible for personalised lesson plans etc? Our tool aims to essentially digitise occupational therapy strategies to help students with ADHD ease executive dysfunction. However, we have had a bit of momentum coming from parents using this tool as a homework scaffold, because we have a weekly task list/study timer and website blocker.

I was Gifted and Talented with straights A’s I wanna know what level I was on?
I live in a region that has a tremendous amount of caves and fossil beds. I am keenly interested in the preservation of these spaces, in educating people on these specimens, and in envionmental conservation and cleanup. I am also interested in mycology and potentially learning more about how to use mushrooms and fungi to help preserve and clean up the environment. (ie bioplastivores) I haven’t settled on exactly what I want to do, but these are of the greatest interest to me.
What major(s) would I even need to pursue in order to study these things?

If every question was a "thinking" question everyone would be a genius. But instead schools are currently structured so that you just memorize how to do something and execute it on your own. In my opinion this is what results in people being "school smart" but idiots when it comes to actually living and if schools taught the same material but rather only tested us using "thinking" questions everyone would be significantly smarter.
Do you think this was done intentionally (cough cough conflict theory of social change) or have we just reached a point where schools are just lazy/ underfunded and hence creativity isnt cared about.
A thinking question is essentially a question youve never seen before but youve been taught the basic information needed to answer it. U just need to connect the dots.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm planning on switching to online school next year. I hate school in real life but I have perfect grades, and when I did online school a couple years back I felt way better but my grades slipped a little bit, going from a 98% overall to 85%, plus I didn't learn much. I can't recall ever having so little homework that I could get it done on the way to school; especially as a teen. It feels like the whole direction or purpose of education has changed. Like how are these kids getting into college?

I’ve noticed that when working through math problems I will sometimes write them starting from the middle or write in a backwards order. The formatting is still correct and hasn’t led to any issues with my work. However it has bled into my normal writing as well, not as frequently as when I work through math problems but still enough that I’ve taken notice. Does anyone know if there is some sort of name or condition for this. I’ve seen some suggesting it is a learning disability but Ive made my way to college and am one of the top students so it didn’t seem to add up. Any insight would be appreciated.
A dozen years ago, behavior was mostly within bounds. Administrators and staff worked together to ensure safety. Teachers sent any student with consistent disruptive behavior to the office - and the kid received appropriate consequences. The admin decided on the consequence, called the parents, and documented the incident. If a meeting was necessary, the admin arranged it. One office had a complete picture of all behavior - which is necessary.
Only lazy admin automatically suspended students. It was far more effective to remind them that participation in sports, lunch with friends, extracurricular activities, dances, etc. wasn't a right, but a privilege - one of which they took away until re-earned. Any parent who didn't like it was welcome to enroll their child elsewhere. The school's policies were in the handbook. The line was held; parents did not run the show.
Sadly, too many admin were lazy or incompetent and simply suspended. Kids stayed home and gamed all day while their parents went to work as usual. Too much of a bad idea was noticed and there was backlash from the feds. Too many suspended students were disabled, or students of color.
Suddenly PBIS reared its ugly head. School districts accepted large grants to implement school-wide PBIS, and then never followed through. They knew it would never work, but they didn't push back because the alternative would require them to dig in and apply appropriate consequences - ones that were meaningful and that addressed systemic misapplications to vulnerable minority groups - but it would require hard work.
Without any real oversight, administrators didn't step up. They came up with "We will no longer take power away from the teachers by interfering in behavior management. Teachers must provide engaging lessons and use Positive Behavior Interventions to properly manage classroom behaviors." In other words, since they could no longer use suspension as their automatic, makes-their-job-easy, tool, they simply stopped doing their #1 job: keeping schools safe.
It only took about a year of no real consequences for students to catch on. Classrooms are now Lord of the Flies - too chaotic for a teacher to get through the curriculum. Teaching is no longer safe - mentally, physically, and emotionally. Any caring teacher with a lick of good sense is either planning to leave ASAP, or has already left.
How is that going to work out in the long run? OR, even next year?

I'm 20 and am thinking of taking 5 different degree programs at Caltech under a Multi-degree program that allows you to create your own curriculum based on what subjects you prefer.
The five programs are: 1. Mechatronics Engineering, 2. Complex Systems Science, 3. Systems Engineering, 4. Biomedical Engineering, 5. Artificial Intelligence.
All of them are very difficult when you view them outwardly.
I think I can manage though since my gut feels excited to take them on.

I’ve been told this all the time. I’m wondering how I’m taught this in school? Because I spent 6th-12th grade bullied by everyone. So I didn’t learn any. Where does the learning come in? (I’m saying they’re wrong I’m asking where in school we learn the social skills?)
I believe a parent may be lying. They are searching for a wheelchair for their high schooler after surgery saying that the child’s school was going to give them a wheelchair but said that it wont work out now. That would be for the student to go home in as well. This makes no sense. Is that not a healthcare sector issue? I have never seen a school do this. Accessors a different story, but I’m talking about the chair itself.
I feel like I’m not doing well enough, but I have two more grades left of high school. However, if I’m applying for college the fall of senior year, will they be able to look at my AP exam scores for senior year and other grades that come after fall?

I am a student who works part-time as a babysitter. I have been picking up two boys aged 7 and 9 occasionally and play with them. We don’t understand each other’s language and I am also expected to familiarize them with my local language naturally.
However, I have been unable to bond with the boys or make things fun for them. I used to be able to play with children quite well but those children were younger and we speak the same language.
I have tried making crafts, drawing and playing simple games like hide and seek with them. But things just don’t go natural and I believe we all feel awkward and pressured.
I know all children are different but could there be any tips for communicating with young boys and finding ways to open their hearts?

Just curious as to why they don’t? Idk just seems like it’d make sense. Depending on the trade a student can earn an Associates to Bachelors or even Masters in a trade by taking liberal arts classes in conjunction.
School is for babysitting, and for the parents who straight up don’t want to deal with their kids, or the parents who are too busy working to be parents. Half of the school day is spent managing behaviors and not really learning. Because again people just send there kids to school because they can’t or don’t want to deal with them.

Hi, i'm 19 from Maryland and I have two foreign language credits left, I don't feel like spending 6 months on 2 classes and having my life held back by them again, so are there any good adult highschools/online credit recovery courses I can take to quickly get the credits I need?

I’ve been doing research and many states offer discounted tuition- free college for students who were wards of the state/ court.
I am officially a few weeks past the age where that applies to me, but now I’m super curious about what to do.
My entire undergrad should have been free yet I was paying for it.
I will set up a meeting with an advisor at the next availability to discuss this but in the meantime I wanna hear if anyone else has been in this situation? And if so, was there anything you could do about it?
Witnessing the pervasive nature of AI in academia has been genuinely concerning to me recently. Maybe I am behind in this conversation so do keep in mind that this is all a matter of personal opinion and observation. I am open to different takes on this.
I am aware that with things like Google and Microsoft Word that highlighting spelling errors, incorrect grammar, or looking up synonyms with just a few clicks, etc, etc have all been commonplace for a while now. However, it feels like with these new AI apps, which are largely directed at students, that these quick hacks have all been taken to a completely new level of 'lazy'.
They don't just correct your spelling, they will highlight and recommend entirely new AI-generated sentences where they think you could've worded something better. They highlight individual words and automatically recommend synonyms or more complex vocabulary. I have just unsubscribed from a 'study vlogs' type YouTuber that I've watched for a while now because she was pushing some AI software that you can just give your notes and the assignment brief/question, and it will give you a fully written response. What's crazy to me about this is that this girl was emphasising that the app is 'student friendly' and how you could 'complete all of your assignments easily and still feel accomplished about your own work'. Your OWN work.
Don't get me wrong, I know that a lot of students will always take the easy way out. Before AI it was plagiarising shit you found on Google. Before plagiarising shit you found on Google it was just copying one of your classmates work. I honestly don't mind people who are just being lazy and self-aware about it. What concerns me about this is exactly what I stated at the end of that last paragraph - there are students who genuinely believe, even with the intervention and contribution of AI, that the work is their own.
I've even seen posts online where students aren't even aware that this type of AI use is against (most) university policy. They think its only violating university policy if they just completely generated an essay using ChatGPT or something obvious like that.
Personally, I feel that even using AI in a small capacity - such as changing the wording of a few sentences that don't sound right to you, or figuring out a title for your essay/dissertation - is still irresponsible. Because the little amount of effort it takes to come up with those things yourself is valuable and a part of the skillset necessary to achieve academically on your own merit.
Anyway, rant over. Is this the common opinion? And is this becoming exhausting for lecturers, tutors, markers, teachers, etc?
I asked this in a comment the other day, but this hypothetical keeps me up at night. I have a hard time fully wrapping my brain around all the unintended consequences that would come about if Republicans get their way. Say they do end the Department of Education and school choice vouchers become the norm, how long would it take for the public schools to fully collapse? What happens to the kids who can't afford school even with a voucher? What about the kids no schools want due to difficulty and expense (SPED, ESL, Title I)? Do we still bother with standardized testing? What kind of curriculum will be mandated, if any? How does this impact families where all parents/guardians HAVE to work to keep a roof over their heads? How does this affect the teacher shortage? Are there any benefits?
Today I read an unfortunate story: an 18 yr old drank beer with his friends at a bonfire - something we all did with our friends - but he got carried away. He grabbed a barrel of gas and threw it on the fire. It exploded and seriously burned 17 of his friends. He is deeply remorseful. Besides spending a year in jail, he'll be paying restitution for the rest of his life.
It's not that teachers directly teach students not to throw gasoline on a fire, but they do teach kids that you must think first and then act responsibly as you go through life - or at least they used to. It's practically impossible now.
Teachers are doing their level best to impart important life skills to their students because parents are too overwhelmed, or whatever, to do it. Teachers are well-aware that the kids who are their students today will be running the world tomorrow. If they can get their students to put their phones down long enough to pay attention, they have a lot of necessary and important stuff to teach.
But the students aren't listening. When the teacher calls/texts/emails to let the parents know that their kid isn't paying attention in class and is in danger of failing, there's an excellent chance that the parent will inform the teacher that they need to do a better job. "Yeah, he says your class is boring," or some other version of that's-your-fault.
School administrators aren't supporting the teachers. One adult in a classroom with 30+ kids means that at least three will be openly disruptive and downright rude. About 20 will be talking to friends and/or glued to their phones. The teacher will be constantly interrupted with "I gotta go to the bathroom," and they have to let them go. Maybe five will sit up front and participate in class.
Administrators no longer give behavior support. The teachers aren't allowed to send students to the office. They remind the student of the rules, maybe document the reminder in a computer database (while teaching), and later contact a parent. That's all they've got. Teachers aren't allowed to give consequences anymore.
Teachers are pressured to pass every student - whether they do any work or not. Schools are graduating kids that can barely read and add. Worse, they believe a rude reply to authority is acceptable.
What they mostly can't do is act responsibly. They are unable to hold a job. They don't think before they act; they never had to before.
I had this teacher a few years ago who would assign everyone in her class a new study-buddy every month or two, and you would never get a repeat. The introverts (me) hated this, but now that I think back on it I've started wondering if it was a good thing. I didn't really benefit a ton but even I managed to get something out of it, though I think her boss told her a year or two ago that she couldn't do it anymore for some reason.
Anyway, summarization here: Does studying/doing schoolwork with someone else make it easier to stay focused? And do you have any good examples of this working for or against students?

Ivy leagues or other top-tier universities take only the best amongst the best, so I would assume that those students were talented, to begin with. The universities only provide a proper platform for the students to showcase their capabilities. It is not like these universities take average or below-average students and make them extraordinary. I can see that this logic applies to all highly competitive educational institutes.
My family is relocating to new ISD district. Currently my kid is in GT program in Middle school. New District has way different process to finalize GT, like school performance, interaction in school, some tests etc.
Do you think it is worth to be in GT during High school years. In 2025 he will be in High School. Appreciate comments about the GT program value in High School. He already done CBE, so he is ahead to complete Geometry by 8th Grade.

For reasons I really don’t wanna say, my “base school” has expelled me and enrolled me in the alternative school. They are telling me I can get out in 6 weeks but there isn’t enough time left this school year to get out. I’ve been once before and it was absolute hell, anybody have a similar experience that could help me get through this?

An old rich guy gave us a very generous sum, the specific amount yet has to he disclosed but I know it’s in the thousands of euros (more or less equivalent to dollars nowadays). He only asked that that money goes towards projects in the field of economics.

So I am a sophomore in highschool in a relatively poor area of Louisiana. We have a program that i am a part of called Jumpstart (i know it's available in other places too but that's irrelevant). Im in it for Information technology because that's what my counselor said i needed to do if i wanted to work in accounting or something else buisness or finance related that wasn't running a buisness. I am a mostly A occasionally B student and I've already taken a AP psychology course that i have a final on in May that will give me 1 college credit if I pass (which i likely will, passed the class with a 103). Will that 1 college credit go into the 2 year college to get that over with faster or would it only be applicable to the 4 year college and if it is only applicable for the 4 year will it still even be useable by the time i go to university? My son has an IEP and has a manifestation hearing coming up prior to expulsion meeting. Quick facts- The school changed his schedule without my consent and I never signed the revised IEP for these changes. He is diagnosed with ADHD and was caught in possession of a vape, which is the cause for expulsion meeting.
I know the manifestation meeting is to determine if the disability was the cause for the behavior but would them taking him out of basic skills class without my consent be grounds for arguing the expulsion? This is all hard to navigate but I do believe expulsion would be the worst thing that could happen to my son. He needs structure and familiarity. We fully acknowledge the severity of the offense but we also want to fight to keep him in school.

As a kid, I just wanted to come home to school to play video games and go outside, my parents would constantly tell me to study but I used to feel depressed to the thought of studying, and I couldn't control my mind back then, how were the brains of others at that time my same age who would willingly study and like don't get any negative feeling or that they are missing out on playing with their friends (the period that am talking about is everything until puberty), back then I would only study days before a test when the stress would come, is it because of over exposure to screens from a young age that literally no joke effects the brain development of the growing child and ruins it,one of the aspects being is what I talked about here?, why aren't more people talking about this, gen alpha is literally gonna be doomed istg,, if I hadn't had a TV or video games until I was about 10, my brain wouldve not been literally ruined in terms of wiring in my most suspect able age , I just don't understand. My job offers education and they are willing to pay for my GED or online high school diploma. I remember I was really close to finishing high school, but I don’t think I’ve passed the ElPac test and it was always the speaking part. If I go through online high school diploma, would I still have to pass the ELPAC test or should I just go for GED. I am 26 years old, by the way. California school districts have been trying to recruit and retain Black teachers for years, but the numbers don’t seem to be increasing. The cost of teacher preparation and unpaid student teaching make it difficult for Black teacher candidates to complete the work to earn a credential. Once in the classroom, a lack of support and respect sometimes makes it difficult for them to remain.

Recently, I realized that this is not what I want, and decided to transfer to another specialty and even to the faculty. I chose applied mathematics and computer science (hereinafter AMCS) at the Faculty of Nuclear Technologies. The profile of this specialty is applied mathematics in engineering.
So can I enroll in a Master's degree in Europe, America or East Asia in bioinformatics and bioengineering? I'm not sure if this affects it, but will my specialty profile «applied math in (!!!!) engineering» and my Faculty of Nuclear Technologies prevent me from entering bioinformatics? And is my main speciality (AMCS) better than SE for entering bioinformatics?
Sorry for ocean of questions. I totally don't know anything about it. I am studying now in Russia and here are no really good universities with bioinformatics. Last chance is the university of another country with high level of education. I know, I can enter bioinformatics after computer science or biology degree. And SE fits this rule. I'm starting psychology in 2 months, but I need money. I'm thinking of studying graphic design while I'm in psychology so I can earn some money, is it achievable to study both at the same time? What other thing can I study while in psychology?
Ten and a half years ago, I was a 16 year teacher at my local school district. We'd had a big turnover in admin, including the superintendent, so the experienced teachers were a bit anxious as we attended our usual staff-wide beginning-of-the-school-year convocation. The new super assured us all that the new administration looked forward to supporting their wonderful staff.
Our school district had many beloved long-term, very loyal teachers. We were an effective team with high scores. Although small, rural, and poor, our graduating students went on to excellent colleges. We all left the meeting feeling warm and fuzzy towards our new leaders. As usual, we were all in. We loved being teachers and trusted that the day-to-day administrative tasks were in good hands.
So it came as a huge surprise when the school year started and we did as we had always done - we sent our most constantly disruptive student to the office. Once the students see that we are serious about their education, they settle down and we can get going. As was usual, we called first to let the office know and all seemed normal. Lo and behold, each one of those students came right back to their classrooms, usually with a treat in hand.
It was a universal result. By Friday, the grapevine was blazing. The union reps asked us to stop by a local cafe on our way home to discuss. Only the two schools with returning principals had a normal week. Many of us, all used to being appreciated (sounds so funny now), had been informed by our new young whippersnapper principals - most of whom had a whole three years of teaching experience - that "good" teachers handle their behaviors in the classroom. WTF?!
We were puzzled; when exactly do we teach? Handling serious disruptive behavior takes time away from teaching. As was usual, we'd spend time during the summer break to create or revise pacing guides and lesson plans - which were posted online. We'd sent our new principals links so they could access them. They knew we had a lot to do every single rigorous school day.
What great big addition to their well-paid duties was so important it prevented them from enforcing the rules? They certainly weren't spending any time implementing PBIS, the much discussed but never seen in real life revolutionary new solution to all behavior issues. Every school district took the grant money, and then most simply didn't follow through. No state or federal agency checked to make sure they did.
Without any consequences for bad behavior, safety became a BIG issue. Students were sexually harassed. Disabled students were openly mocked and bullied. LGBTQ students feared for their lives. Within a year, we had several nearly successful suicide attempts that we knew about. How many more were there that we didn't?
Other additional admin/office duties were now assigned to the teachers: attendance phone calls, parent meetings about behavior, additional required documentations, and far more IEP accommodations.
By 4:00 pm on every campus, there wasn't an administrator to be found. Two hours later, it was always the teachers who made sure the gates were locked on their way out. Some of the older teachers retired immediately. The new super pulled their credentials - which meant they couldn't sub. A move that really backfired for the district. Most of the rest retired mid-year, which was considered enough notice. But by that point, morale was so low, and safety such a concern, that none of them were willing to sub.
It got worse. Our previous great test scores were now in the toilet. Without the ability to give consequences, every classroom above 4th grade became Lord of the Flies. Thanks to inexperienced administrators, parents ran roughshod over everyone. We didn't have enough staff, so teachers had to sub during their preps. We were quickly burning out and staggering through the days like zombies. The super had a giant personal meltdown and was fired. One of the whippersnappers - the cruelest and most inexperienced of all - became the new super. No one else in their right mind was willing.
Currently, the entire district's teaching staff is young and they never last. The district has constantly had a 12% or more teacher shortage. Every single para quit. We were so out of SpEd compliance that the state ordered the district to use an expensive temp agency.
No one ever imagined that it could get so bad so fast. A third of our school age kids are now homeschooled or in a charter school independent study program - and it's not as though our poorly educated, hard-working, rural parents are up to the task - but their children's safety must come first.
All of this happened because our administrators decided that enforcing the rules was no longer their responsibility - and they didn't even have the balls to tell us why.

I am conducting research, which will include a poll and interviews, as part of a learning process to design and build an improved Interactive White Board(IWB) for use in classrooms. This IWB will be designed to improve upon current systems and address common user complaints about them. This is entirely a learning experience for a university course, and no actual physical product will be developed or built. As a current teacher or student, you are an important possible user of any such device, and your experience in the classroom puts you in an ideal position to provide valuable information for our project.
The research will take the form of a short questionnaire regarding your experiences with any IWB, a short video demonstration of our prototype in use, and after watching this video, a short poll will be provided to you. The poll will include multiple choice questions, and the choice to include optional freeform answers. This should take no more than 5 to 10 minutes of your time.

Ok so my school just got a shooter threat and I’m very scared because I obviously don’t wanna die and I’m debating going to online school so I wanted to ask if it’s worth it and will I still be able to get into Colorado state university or not and also how would i go about doing this. What should I do if the teacher said they already passed the final grades and the grade they passed of me is literally a failed grade? I was already told to complete a task but I forget easily and I wasn't able to pass my work. Yes i admit this is absolutely my mistake and I really didn't mean to do this because I genuinely forgot. I am also not mentally stable that's the reason why I'm falling so hard in school (I wasn't like this before) and I already told my adviser about it, and he told me he's gonna put me with the guidance counselor too. I really don't want to fail or else my family is gonna kill me if they find out I have a failing grade. I badly want to talk to the subject teacher but I have really low self esteem idk what to do. I am thinking of getting a high school diploma at age 38 but I don't know if it is worth it. I have vision impairments and learning challenges which will impact the ease of which I get a degree. I am mostly worried about spending 3 years getting a high school education and pursuing a degree afterwards. Is it worth getting a degree and will it lead me to a career? I'm in the Muslim Cambridge Education System, I'm in C-2 and I'm happy to say that I have passed my Mocks but now I'm worried I don't know What's next they have just given us vacations and just left us free. For context, our homeroom teacher informs us of a supposedly "mandatory" theatre play coming up soon. However, the Department of Education Regional Memorandum states that it is non-mandatory or "personal and voluntary." No other official documents that we (the students) know of, state a payment of some kind is required, and no explanation backed by official documents is provided by our teacher as to why the payment is needed. Our teacher also gave us an incentive that participating in this would be the basis for our exam grade, so taking the exam is no longer needed. One of my classmates raised a question as to what would happen for non-compliance, and the teacher said that the student would have to take the exam. Is this fair?
What are some of yall impression on this, I personally think it is a decent approach for younger generations; as doom scrolling is becoming more of a trend. Also, need more love to STEM fields !! Hopefully this can inspire a group of new generations !

Has anyone experienced Kaplan pathway services? I have applied for my masters in science overseas and got an unconditional offer, however they want me to pay £5,720 initial fee and then I have to pay for accommodations. The last portion of the program, I have to pay at the end of the term. I want to make sure this is legit before I start handing over money.
As a former businessman for 30 years, I was staggered by the number of high school grads with no knowledge of employment opportunities in the area. Many local jobs are unfilled, but students aren't aware of those positions, and don't have or know the skills needed. I joined Hirepaths, which is a job-oriented site, sponsored by local companies to spur interest in these jobs, and also to retain young adults. Rural America has serious population loss, part of that is lack of opportunity, but every business is advertising for help.

Freshman-Each freshman was assigned to watch a video from the Hirepaths webpage and write a one page summary of the video, including skills and education needed for that position. Also whether they would be interested in employment like that.
Juniors-American History
Last week was spent on the Roaring Twenties, when women entered the workforce in large numbers. A comparison and contrast paper between now and social expectations in the workplace was assigned. Which jobs were appropriate for women, pay differences, and even social mores. The junior class is all female.
Seniors--
An interactive, Socratic style discussion period about employment in the area, and career opportunities was done all last week. The topics ran from local economics, lifestyle, cost-of-living, and educational opportunities. Interestingly, all of them wish to stay in the area. 75% will be attending either college, or technical schools after graduation. 50% of them know what their career field, and the others are still searching. Interestingly, many have jobs they do not like, so they have learned what they don't like. They toured the North Central Vocational-Technical College in Beloit, and Cloud County Community College in January and February.k
