The No Child Left Behind program was the final nail in the coffin of what had already, by that point, been the systematic destruction of public education in the USA. Current high schoolers inability to read can be attributed, in large part, to the effects of this policy being in full swing by the time they started kindergarten. Blaming social media or iPads is extremely beneficial to those in power who benefit from a failing education system, not to us, who are trying to work with what little we have to teach these kids.
