Is there something that can improve someone's GPA or otherwise improve admission chances without possibly getting boxed into being a transfer applicant?

I hold a regular HS diploma and a GED for reasons. I want to apply as a freshman and not as a transfer. I can't do too much CC because that runs the risk of being forced to apply as a transfer to a four college.
